You said you were in all college-level AP classes in 12th grade, so yes...that is not even remotely like most people. There's probably a higher than average amount of nerds in this community, but the vast majority of students are nothing like that.
It usually has nothing to do with me touching it. It's when I set the controller down or rest it on my lap. The one with no springs triggers every time, the 'stock' one doesn't. The actual trigger "feel" is pretty much the same.
I have one controller without springs and one with them. The one without, I use as the main controller for my HTPC/Steam box and it is super-sensitive. The lightest touch counts like you're pulling the trigger basically.
Looking at something in 30fps and 60fps is not the same as controlling something in 30fps vs 60fps.
