Gonna pick this up. What's the best system to get it on? Leaning Switch mainly because my Switch is collecting dust. FFT is in my permanent top five of all time so I should like this. Is the music anywhere near as good as FFT, though? I feel like FFT was in no small part made by the soundtrack.

IMO the weapon ornaments hurt the game more than help, especially in early TLP. The ornaments were added during the Seeds of Destruction expac IIRC or around then, when most weapons suddenly looked like total ass incidentally. Of course, ornaments sold like hotcakes. For that era they're fine...
