There probably isn't a point in killing yourself for gear because incursions will give better gear, and that's a week away. I think the difficulty on them was overblown by the devs. More than likely they'll be on farm status for 90% of people within the first 2 weeks.

The side missions (not encounters) are ridiculous experience. At your level it's probably 5-6 of them per level; with each taking probably under 5 minutes between actually doing it and the run to it. I'm not sure how you could ask for any faster.
