We could hear everything so it would load windows. It would also happen sometimes while playing a game. Black screen, no video detected, still able to hear sound.

So my sons computer is having a no video detected issue. Sometimes it will fire up and everything is fine but shut it down and the next day its up to the gaming gods on whether we will get an image or not. I have ruled out the problem being the monitor as it works on another pc. Tried...
