I highly disagree with this statement. I have SlingTV at my house and pair it with an OTA HD antenna to get local channels. This setup is great for my family and SlingTV, while not perfect, is certainly good enough that I don't have many complaints.

General consensus is that if the only thing you do is game, then the i7 is still your best bet for now. If you do anything else at all (streaming, en/decoding, un/compressing, etc) that can take advantage of multiple cores, then Ryzen is what you want and it isn't close.
