Tichondrius had 3 Alliance guilds and I think maybe 1 Horde guild clear Naxx in vanilla. There was definitely a lot of pve on one of the bigger pvp servers. I didn't even consider I might like raiding at all when I started playing WoW. I quit EQ in beta because I thought the pvp was garbage...

I'd also be a lot more inclined to want difficult content at the end of a raid if there was no difficulty slider. If it took 500+ attempts to kill a boss you couldn't just give up on and do on easy mode I'd be better with that. I think the game can still be hard without being ridiculous though.

What is the perfect boss difficulty for you then? They could just turn a raid into an hour long fight where you have to be perfect so no one could ever do it. Where is that line for you? What should the game be designed around? Maybe Mythic isn't hard enough?

Yeah, I dunno, I think that many attempts by the top guilds in the world is just too difficult. Raids shouldn't be killing guilds difficulty level, I don't think it's good overall for the game. I realize you can do it on lower difficulties full well.

Asmongold clearly doesn't have the skill of guys like Venruki or Cdew but he's a total autist about everything in the live game and isn't a bad player by any stretch.

Those aren't "raids," they're small group content. The less people you are forced to interact with the smaller your world becomes.

I guess the counter argument of barrier to entry is keeping old raids relevant but wasn't that what the 20 mans were developed for? Gear catchup? Wasn't Karazhan developed initially as a 20 man for Naxx catchup gear?
