I think 40 dollars is more than reasonable for this game. Anyone complaining is, indeed, spoiled. It could be 20-30 because it's just multiplayer with no campaign, but it could also be 60 dollars like any console game ever. 40 is a good sweet spot.

That exploit is funny because to get the crafting mats (obviously the best part of that) you'd have to be a season pass owner. At this point, I think people who spent more than box cost have earned those free mats.

EQ isn't a money maker franchise. It's a fan service franchise. And that's exactly how we'd want EQ:N or EQ3. No company will make it the way the people on this forum want it. So unless one of the neckbeards here wins the Powerball, RIP EQ.
