Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

I didn't notice the increase cost, but I guess that explains the rarity bump. You can knock Minthara out, then she'll be available at Moonrise to recruit.

    Metro 2039

I also have all the older ones in my backlog, but I’ve only played them for a few minutes each. About how long are they from start to finish?

    Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

It's taken 8 episodes to finally get a cool, albeit brief, Titan battle. But my god it's been a slog.

    MOUSE: P.I. For Hire

Just picked up MOUSE: P.I. for Hire and honestly having a blast with it. The core game-play is classic run-and-gun "boomer shooter" stuff. Pretty basic movement and shooting, nothing revolutionary there. But damn, the art style and animations are absolutely top-tier. The game looks hand-drawn...

    Crimson Desert

Yeah if this had combat and bosses like Elden Ring? All over it. Assuming the controls were sane.

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

You can still cheese it, by doing it in darkness and immediately going to camp.

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

I used to bring in the halfling hireling and make her my pickpocketer. But after a while it just got old and I simply wanted the items. The bag exploit may only work with controllers...never tried it with kb&m. But what you do is put gold in a bag. Sell the bag to a vendor. On the vendor's...

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

I admit, I use the bag exploit to effectively have infinite gold. Surprised they never patched that.

    Invincible

Is it explained in the comics why Thragg appears to be 100x the power of typical Viltrumnites? He is no joke.

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

Another easy way is to shoot an arrow of darkness around the door. Lock pick it, take the loot then immediately go to camp.

My own personal build for Gale (although anyone will do) is 2 storm sorc, 2 div wizard, 8 life cleric. He can twin haste two members then immediately sanctuary himself. Ultimate support character.

That's why I don't bother with offsite company events. I have nothing BUT work stuff to talk about with these people.

    Crimson Desert

That's what a friend kept saying, "but there's so much stuff you can do!". Who the fuck cares if it doesn't have any meaning. I'm not that bored in life that I need a video game to give me pointless crap to do.

Man, I tried, but after BG3 it's really hard to get into these games imo.

    Linux OS stuff Thread

Thought this was a thing of the past. I update my Linux Mint, LMDE, Pop!OS, and CachyOS installations pretty frequently and have never had anything broken afterwards. Like, never.

    Crimson Desert

Yeah, I haven't bothered picking this up. Seems to me if you're not the type of player to enjoy "running around and finding shit" then you're not going to get into this game. Probably the same reason why BotW, Skyrim, etc. never clicked with me. Feels pointless.

    Friends

I’m a software developer, but surprisingly none of my coworkers share my interests, so I haven’t made any friends at work. I reconnected with an old high school friend a few years ago, but quickly realized we don’t get along anymore. I keep our conversations casual out of respect for our past...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

I'm not so sure. Unless AI becomes good at mind-reading, it takes real skill to craft effective prompts and steer the AI correctly to get the result you want. We have some Indian contractors that appear to be using AI for their code and it's a weird mess.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

In another thread here on the forums, I described my idea of creating a fantasy 8-bit "super games console" using off-the-shelf components that would have existed in the mid-80s. I then realized I could write an emulator for such a thing. However, doing this properly would require extensive...

Some developers here have complained that it takes away the "fun" of coding. Which I find kind of bizarre. I write code for the end result...what is created. Not for the act of coding itself.

Honestly, the only tough part with Honor mode is the final Netherbrain encounter. That can definitely go awry with some bad rolls.

    The Boys

Yeah I stopped watching this crap a couple seasons back. Also, Starlight looks fucking terrible in that promo image.

    No Man's Sky

I found it pointless. Flying around in an infinite universe by yourself is boring.

AI: The Rise of the Machines... Or Just a Lot of Overhyped Chatbots?

In my coding with Claude and Codex, I will often have it store important information that it "discovers" in markdown files, then have the CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md reference those. That's the technique I use to give it a form of long term memory.

    Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Mike from RLM said he heard from a source that the entire full season of Academy had 400,000 views total. The entire season, not per episode.

Quite possible. Someone did make the comment that the company "wants us to use them". What's even more irritating is that we are literally spending more resources fixing the problems they create.

Speaking of pajeetification, our company got on a kick of hiring Indian contractors about a year ago. It is abundantly clear they are adding no value but they insist on keeping them around. It defies all reason.

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

Not really. Nintendo might have to do the same with the Switch 2. If they had just stuck with their aging console, they might have managed costs enough to keep the price the same or even cheaper.

  34. ShakyJake

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

Well, truthfully, consoles today are just PC components. So I guess backwards compatibility is mostly a non issue. It's not like the old days where they would have custom ASICs.

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

They did. and there really wasn't any hurry either. Bizarre.

    Star Trek

Check out Star Trek Continues on YouTube. Excellent "fan" made series. I quote fan because it's obviously on a level beyond typical fan created stuff. Looks identical to the original series - lighting, sound, etc.

  39. ShakyJake

    Nintendo Switch (previously NX)

Does anyone really care about backwards compatibility? For me, once I move to the next gen I don't go back and play older system games. Other than for nostalgia's sake.

    Crimson Desert

Yeah I feel like there's a great game here, but maybe appeals to a certain type of player. Not sure if I'm it.
