    DOTA 2

My point being a lot of people watch it for the pro scene. With all this shit, no one's going to want to watch DOTA anymore. And that will spell the death of the game. Pointing out the battle pass for this year when the news is 2 days old is disingenuous. Let's see how the next few majors go.

Huh, somehow neither my wife nor I felt that 6.0 in Lone Pine. Weird because apparently everyone else in California did. Although...we were both working out, so maybe that's why?

    Geology, Earthquakes and Volcanos

Haven't found any videos of this earthquake that do a 7+ justice. I was going to say I'm not sure how that happens, but even with it lasting a good 45 seconds I didn't think to record any of the one last year. Just wasn't even remotely on my mind. This is kind of crazy looking though. Edit...

I have significantly more hours in NSM than Subnautica. But NMS has literally almost no elements of danger. Basically after the first hour or two, things are just annoying versus deadly.

Reminds me of one of the Zeihan talks he did where he compared how different countries count arrears. The US I think was 30 days. Places like Greece and Italy were like 180 or 270 before being considered late.

I'm really torn. We're getting prepped to move so I want to get rid of shit, but I don't know when. I'd love to get rid of the gym shit super easily and at a premium. But at the same time I don't want to be without a gym for months.

7 Days to Die is probably the standout one there for me. Have about 500 hours into it. A19 drops in a little over a week. This game has been in development for the better part of a decade, but it's basically released enough (each alpha just brings sweeping changes, so be prepared for once a year...

Not sure if it's from that study, but someone looked at mutual fund managers and found that their performance was somehow worse than would be expected by probability (i.e. you'd at least expect them to meet an average return, but they actually did worse than what would be expected across the...

I had originally thought about buying an Airstream, but then you need a tow vehicle. Started doing more research and there are a lot of campgrounds that limit you on size (especially out west). Really between those two things I just decided against towing anything (be it fifth wheel or trailer)...

You can see the inside of one of the cabinets here. There's a 1x3 that stretches all the way across the top of the van, bolted with rivnuts every 2ish feet. Then the cabinets are bolted into that. Have gas struts on all of them to hold the doors up. Sink is 14"x16", and 8" deep (bar sink), and...

Apologies for the pic heavy post(s). Will put behind spoilers for anyone who doesn't want to scroll. Van was pretty much bare when we bought it, except for some finishing panels that I've mostly removed (the sliding door is the only one I kept up). Put in some 2x2 struts that I used some...

Except it's actually the opposite. I wish I remember where I saw the video (thought it was Shamus Young, but it's not), but it used the original Mario Bros as an example of how it doesn't tell you how to do anything and you learn through the game showing you. This is similar, but not as good.

First game I tried was the Survivalists. Think I made it maybe 30 seconds before I closed it. Game kept interrupting me between every action (and sometimes more than once). I want to play the game, not be told how to play the game.

I should also add that large caps have actually been pretty shit the last few years, it's just FAANG that's been propping them up. I personally go with an 80% large cap, 20% small cap mix; which is basically a total market index.

Small caps have outperformed large plenty of times. You should really be diversified across asset types, because it's hard to know in any given year what the top performer will be.

Yeah, it was difficult finding one. There was a dealer in Thousand Oaks who had 4 or 5. We were actually getting ready to test drive it and someone else came in looking to buy it while they were pulling it around. I think he ended up getting one still, but it was like $1-2k more than what we...

So I like to think of it as the ultimate bugout bag at this point (and while any RV technically meets that standard, a van is a lot more portable and easy to just go). I'm just about done re-doing it; previously I had the kitchen on the passenger side. Details: It's a 2018 RAM Promaster...

The only one of those that seemed to do any justice to what a big quake feels like was the Alaska one. The 8.3 Chile one in the airport people looking fucking bored. I can't even imagine an 8+ earthquake. For some reason those all didn't seem to last very long, either.

Honestly, the classic mode felt WAY better. No money, no loadouts, no buying back in, no gulag. Just a normal BR. Unfortunately I think it was trios only. It felt more tactical like PUBG in that you don't just take fucking ridiculous risks like you do when there are 80 ways back in.
