There's plenty of ways where Jon killing Dany will be a good payoff. I could even deal with him "going North" to live with the remaining Wildlings if it were done right. Dr Strange could look through 14 billion endings for episode 6 and in none of them is Bran taking the throne a good decision...

The main problem is there have been a lot of "payoff" moments that everyone knew were coming in some form or another this season, and they've missed the boat on more than they've done okay or well. I guess there's still some ways next week could payoff okay.

This episode maybe last chance for them to spring some truly surprising stuff. My faith has almost completely waned after episodes 3 and 4, though. Spectacle is there, the gravity in the writing for the big moments has not been.

The one thing I hope they do is add some real terror and such to the 2nd chapter. It's just hard for me to fathom adults being that terrified of something they basically beat the crap out of as seven 13 year olds.
