Exactly. All earlier ability to move the ball will just vanish, the D will give up random big plays that should never happen. Trick plays and bits of luck go the other team's way, and before you know it you're getting blown out.

Always hated players on D picking up obviously incomplete passes and running the other way with it like it was a real TD they were scoring.

Every year I have a friend of mine who is all hyped up once the preseason starts and wants me to actually spend real money with him to go to one of the Skins preseason games. I channel my best Allen Iverson impression every time. Can't even watch highlights of the preseason.
