People love their cats as much as their dogs. I would imagine, judging by your post, you wouldn't own a cat to begin with so at least you don't have to worry.
That Xbone deal would be awesome if I had a single reason to buy one. The gadget geek in me wants one, but I just can't justify it with a PS4 and a 980ti PC.
There are tons of low effort things people do in relationships as nice gestures. I'm not judging you for not doing it, but do you lean over and kiss your wife goodnight or goodbye? I'm not sure there is much difference.
I'm probably the furthest thing from needy and(before we lived together) my girlfriend and I always texted goodnight. I still do if I'm traveling for work, etc. It's practically the lowest effort gesture you can make.
Sweet potato fries simply don't crisp up like a starchy regular potato. I don't hate them(as I really love sweet potatoes), but I agree that they are almost never that great.
