You're not wrong. Get a good Purdy or Wooster brush with a handle that feels good in your grip. It will improve your life considerably.

Doing the edges with a brush isn't hard or time consuming. The more you do it, the easier it gets. And I don't get people who spend all the time with taping the edges. It's not hard to make a really good edge with a brush and no tape. Edge first, roll second, boom. Bob's your uncle.

Tonight I made pizza. All the toppings came from my property. Tomatoes to make a slow simmer sauce. Sliced cherry tomatoes. Basil. Cheese from my goats (first time ever). Spicy oregano. Garlic. Spinach. Made it on the BBQ. It was so good it made me horny.

Yeah, I will still use a roller. Especially for touch ups. Overspray is crap, and I use a roller until a job is done (put it in a bag in the fridge between coats), and then throw it away. Easy clean up, not expensive, quick setup, minimal equipment needed. I'm just not a sprayer guy.

It's worth doing the fixes now, otherwise every time you walk in the room you'll see them. And as for the sprayer, yeah. Totally not worth it for doing a ceiling or a room. When I'm doing my whole house exterior it's worth it. But not for usual indoor jobs. You can get just as good a finish...
