In Beta I was doing *some* of the group stuff solo. You can solo almost everything in the game from what I've seen. Though the purple portal stuff (daily missions) require groups. 1-30 though is a breeze solo for any hero. Servers still down which is a bit annoying... want to play when I get home.

Its the perfect "I've got a few hours to kill, I want to mindlessly kill Super Villians" game. It's better than MUA imo anyways. There are problems with it, but its f2p so the only thing you'd be spending is time. I'd give it a whirl. I plomped $60 on it and don't regret it in the least.

In beta, you got one starter at beginning and one after defeating Green Goblin (tutorial boss); which was another of the starter heroes. They changed that, and now you get a fortune card after beating GG. Not sure about Doom, they've wiped Closed Beta forums as well.
