I don't see the real difference in being very efficient on short/medium routes leading guy for more YAC. If the D knows you're throwing short more, it should be far easier to prevent Smith from having such a high yards per attempt. The guy was playing extremely efficiently, and that counts for...

His QBR was behind them, but he was still like 7th in the whole league. When you're TD/Int ratio is 2.6/1, you have the 3rd highest yards per attempt in the league, and the highest completion percentage in the league...you were doing something right.

You have to admit that he's still in the 10-15 range, which is top half. It's hard for me to instantly throw some of the rookies that high in my QB rankings (even though 3 of them have had pretty damn good years), and there are plenty of QB's starting in this league that are worse than Joe Flacco.
