There is an electrician near me that doesnt even answer the phone. Voicemail says they are only doing work for clients they have done business with in the past 10 years and they are booked 6 months out. ALSO it is extremely expensive to run any skilled trades company. A previous employer with...

That isn't a bad price. understand that there is also travel time to pick up that part, turn it back in for credit and warranty paperwork. probably comes out to $250/hr which is a healthy number. Bonus rooms are a scam. You take a room right above a garage which isn't 100% isolated from outdoor weather and put it right next to the fucking roof. The only way you will ever ever properly condition that is with its own system which usually ends up being a mini split.

Tramsformers don't usually fail intermittently, I would check to see if you have a drain that is slow to drain and tripping a float switch. Could be a loose low voltage connection too.

Home warranty cos are a scam. I would advise you to find a local company to replace the equipment, ask your friends or neighbors who they would recommend. Any system you can buy today will save you $ in operating costs. That electric bill is huge, either you have a very high electric rate or...

You can try. Your ductwork is designed to cool the exact amount it is doing now, adding airflow to a new location will take it awat from somewhere else.

I had spray foam done about 7 years ago, definitely helps muffle the noise from outside as well as insulates. Ask about warranty on the product. About a year ago I had to open a bathroom wall and found the spray foam had shrunk away from the wall by a few inches each side.

Hvac equipment has gone up a bunch in the last 3 years. Always a good idea to get 3 quotes. pick the company that does work instead of the one with the best price. Re ductwork, your hvac guy might be retarded, no difference in ducts for single/2 stage equipment.

Random thoughts from an hvac guy. The ac in your house is a sealed system, the refrigerant charge should last the life of the equipment. If you need to have refrigerant added you have a leak. Leak checking is my least favorite task, its tedious af. average life expectancy on modern equipment is...

The ac dehumidifies as it runs which brings down humidity levels, with more moderate temps it runs less and home humidity rises. You should never see ice or frost on refrigerant lines. This means you are either low on refrigerant or have low airflow across the evaporator. You should have that checked out by a pro. That return duct needs to be insulated.
