Last time on their Twitter they mentioned site updates. Guessing this is a result of new ownership. Not directly related to forums I don't think. Also, you missed the 2-3 week period where search actually functioned correctly.

Honestly hope it's the new "updates" temporarily breaking the forums. Seems that has been the case more than once in the past, and was the given explanation last time.
