Oh, and on the Unity license thing. You can download the full Unity program for free. You only have to pay the license fee when you go to put something on the market that used it. So I doubt anyone on the team paid the $1500 or so it costs. But he shouldn't even be worried about it yet.

Indeed. The two Pantheon threads on Rerolled are such an important history lesson. They are a cautionary tale to anyone who thinks too much of themselves or who thinks it's easy just to waltz into making an MMO. It's a shame they're over 1000 pages combined, because they would be great...

Sadly, I think the legend of this will stick around for a while. I have no doubt the old-school MMO genre will be harmed by all of this. If Camelot Unchained does well and Shroud of the Avatar does well, then maybe they can mitigate the damage done here. Otherwise, it's going to be a while...

This is true. but we've heard over and over that the team actually came together sometime between July and September of 2013. By now, those kinds of documents should have been created, right?

I seriously doubt there is any documentation at all. If you watch the Dave and Rob shows and the KTAM shows, the devs always defered to later-decision making any time some specifics came up. We heard nothing, as far as mechanics go, about character generation, leveling, rewards, itemization...

Especially Brad and Salim. A lot of new info came out last night. A lot of stuff I don't think anyone knew.

Perhaps I'd like to get more of the story, and hear what happened for myself rather than relying on second hand accounts.

Yeah. All kidding aside, the Unity stock images and packs do look really amazing. Game design is nothing like it was back in 1999. I really hope that Unity leads to a lot of indie game makers out there coming up with some really awesome stuff in the near future.

I think this mindset is silly. Vangard was a screwup on multiple levels by multiple organizations and people. Bard alone is not to blame. If people want to judge him harshly, they can judge him on what he's done with Pantheon so far. I can see plenty of reasons people could find if they want...
