The real explanation would be that this season has been a year of have and have nots, with very, very few teams in the middle.

On the have front, there are actually so many teams with good records that zero teams have locked in playoff spots so far (though Denver and NE are getting close)- as only 7 teams go into the playoffs from each conference, having 8 or 9 playoff contenders in each means the wildcards and even some divisions will be up in the air until the final week.

On the have not front, some playoff contenders have completely fallen off, the unifying factor being Oline injuries (and then QB injuries as a result). Some divisions are so injury ridden (like the NFC South) that everyone is effectively writing off the playoff chances of whomever crawls to the top of the cripple pile by year's end, though wacky things can happen once the playoffs start.

Okay, I don’t follow the NFL really, I stick to college ball. Can someone explain to me why and how nearly every team is complete dog shit this year?
This division game (which includes the Saints and Your Carolina Panthers (tm) is pretty shitty year to year.

EDIT: also since the league as a whole went to 17 regular season games the play as a whole has been poor. IMO at least.

The needle punctures the lung membrane usually through a shoulder and you get and air pocket collapsing the lung.

Not that I'll ever feel sorry for anyone on the Steelers but that sounds fucked up. How does your lung collapse from getting acupuncture??

Partial collapse is an incredibly broad term that basically covers any amount of air entering the thoracic cavity and inhibiting the function of a lung to some degree without preventing it from working entirely. "Surgery" is also an incredibly broad term and in this case probably just means a tiny incision and a thoracoscopy.

Atelactasis was part of my diagnosis at the beginning of last year when I had a lung infection so technically I also had a partially collapsed lung but the amount of air that had made it into my chest wasn't enough that I noticed any difficulty breathing.
