Since I was seven, back to 1977, I have seen the SB every single year. It began with my father having me watch it with him, starting with regular season Packer Football that particular season in the Lynn Dickey era when Bart Star coached them. No matter where I was or what my life was like, I watched every single SB even if I completely hated both teams playing in it, like last year in particular. I have the money to be signed up to multiple streaming services and am in fact subbed to Peacock, but the whole paywalling an event with the biggest advertising revenue slots in mankind pissed me off when I heard that they were carrying the game. Next came the whole Bad Bunny Gaslighting horse shit, which was a clear effort to push message and piss off the long term fans (more on that in a bit) supposedly in an effort to generate a younger fan set. And then the rumors about the ad buys started coming out..... well lets just say that shit was not appealing and I did not want to support any of it. Finally, the political stunts by the players and somehow Kaeperdick popping up began. And all this in a season where the NFL went dick deep into the Gambling revenue and totally coincidentally had the worst year of officiating anyone I know can even remember......
So for the first time in 49 years, I skipped the whole thing. Most of the people I know who are avid fans skipped it. I did not even bother seeing the result until I read it here around midnight last night. I continued my bingewatch of Blacklist with the wife and we watched arguably the most disappointing Bill Murray movie of all time (Dead Never Die) and I have zero regrets about doing so. Ignoring for the moment that this entire game was boring as shit with zero TDs in the first half and basically a slow murdering of Maye the entire time, I just absolutely did not feel like showing any support for this shit. Let me preface this by saying that I am so out of fucks that the bulk of my information for this comes from this thread and the rest is mostly word of mouth from the couple of friends that did decide to sit through this commie struggle session.
First, lets talk about their choice of halftime show. They went out and got the gayest checkbox filling walking red flag faggot they could find, purely for the purpose of pissing off as much of their core fan base as possible. When the dress wearing non-english speaking America hating faggot was not pissing enough people off, they went balls deep by adding in a couple more America hating bands for the pregame. When THAT shit did not get enough gaslighting done, they had that faggot make a big announcement about cross dressing. Finally, the enitre thing then was done exclusively in spanish. Now, there have been activists bands/artists who have played the event and there have been ethnic specific acts. But they (usually) performed well and had a minimum of a decade of established careers as an artist. This tiktok faggot is so obscure that the majority of the players in the game, even the hispanic ones, had no fucking clue who he was. If I am Greenday and asked to be an opening act for this fruit loop and NOT the headliner, I would be insulted. As insufferable as they are, Greenday has had a long career and people actually fucking know who they are. I am not saying the act needs to be someone the core fan base likes, but it should be someone they have heard of and do not have to google.
Then there were the adds. Holy fuck everything was jammed to the gills with leftoid propaganda, including Kraft's personally funded and hilarious over the top "Please stop Noticing" ad and whatever the fuck that made for Lifetime TV anti-Ice thing linked above was. Can anyone remember a SB that had more political messaging jam packed into it? Because I can't remember one thats even close to what apparently went on in this one. And you know that at least a couple of those were probably ultimately bankrolled through tax money.
Finally we have the players, both on the field and washed out like Kaeperdick, doing stupid shit to make political statements. The top cringe was Hollins, because yeah the average in jail thug or slave had access to piles of cash and an entourage of homies and hoes like you do asshole. Here is a fucking hint, maybe show up for more than the fourth quarter and win the fucking game, then you can bloviate about being on the wrong side of 13-50 on your time. As is, the whole stunt quickly became a Hernandez joke instead of whatever fucking point he thought he was making.
So, yeah between the streaming paywall, the politicking, and the seeming intent do alienate their core audience, what the fuck is the NFL thinking right now? If I am an advertiser, I am pissed off right now. As a long time fan who got into it for the 80 years of tradition and history, I am lamenting the loss of something special in our culture (which I am sure was the point of the forces at work here) and thinking about walking away for good. And here is a tip for the NFL leadership: Oversease America hating brown people and local soy boys orbiting the blue hairs are never going to pay a dime for your product. Between this and the gambling thing, they have killed the golden goose.
