San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan suffered significant injuries in a car accident during his summer break in mid July that now will leave him limited as the team opens training camp. Shanahan broke his nose, three ribs, his hand, needed over 40 stiches in his face and suffered a severe concussion during a July 14 car accident when he collided with an SUV near his northern California home, per me and @nwagoner.

This is probably not a good portent of how injuries will go for the 49er's this season. Ouch.

Oof. I hadn't heard the part about the stitches in his face. The broken ribs will take the longest to come back from. I broke a couple of ribs last fall and couldn't lie in bed for over a month. I also had an entire day ruined by a sneeze at one point. If we have to have injuries though, better the coaches than the players.

This is the interim 49ers head coach when he was the O-line coach for the Miami Dolphins lol.


I'm still mad they fired him because of this. He actually got results out of the O-line.
