So this sounds like they indeed put him on blood thinners, which would also suggest it is for the season not just the minimum 4 weeks

This ended Chris Bosh's career a couple of years after LeBron left. When the Miami Heat released him, it was rumored they contacted the other teams in the league and said, "Don't sign him. He could literally die on the court."

Bosh needed to be on blood thinners the rest of his life though. I don't know how long Hurts needs to be on it, but if the physicality of basketball is life threatening, then football has to be right out.

So the NFC playoff teams are basically down to:
49ers and Seahawks
Vikings and Bears
NFC East Winner between Cowboys / Giants (I don't think it's a lock for the Giants yet)
NFC South Winner (Panthers with a sizable lead)

with the only real question being who gets the 7th seed between Lions, Rams (if everything stops going wrong), and the NFC East loser between Cowboys / Giants.

Will that 7th seed even have a winning record? Who the hell knows!

I think if the North didn't have to beat up on each other, there's a world where all 4 make it. Which could still happen, but I think at least 1 of them is out due to all the division games.
