SF does not want Aiyuk, but just because his 2026 salary was voided doesn't mean he doesn't carry a dead cap value - if Spotrac is to be believed with his weird situation, it's still nearly $32M on the cap.

So yes, I would expect SF keeps him to the trade deadline hoping to get _something_ for that cap hit - though the new team will undoubtedly want a new contract as well - and I suspect no one will sign up for that.

Given that his 2026 salary was partially voided in 2025, maybe SF forces him to sign a new lesser contract before they release him? I'm honestly not sure how or even if a new contract would reduce the cap hit that's on the books.

It's 12.3mil in 2026, but 5mil of that is a prorated option bonus that was never paid to him so they get it back in 2027. It's 32mil total, but that's over two years - this year and next.

The bigger hit is 19.3M in 2027 that consists of the leftover bonuses he already received but the Niners will file to get some of that back, likely citing "conduct detrimental to the team".

The guy is simply doing this to fuck with the 49ers before the trade deadline. I'd be absolutely shocked if he ever plays football again.

Man imagine how miserable it would be to be at this game, be a ravens fan and see your team get curb stomped in cold rain. I actually felt sorry for the ravens QB when the threw that int.

It was a completely noob QB, on a short week, against a rough defense, in a storm.

Oh yeah, and they don't have the offensive line to go run heavy (if not all run).

But the larger issue is the Ravens are much closer to a rebuild than a championship. I still think the actual reason Harbaugh was ousted was a behind the scenes power struggle over Lamar's long term future.

And that future is still very much not settled. His contract fiddling this year just gave the Ravens some cap space to work with for this year. Next year, however, Lamar has a $84 Million cap hit, and a $74 Million dead money hit. (He also has a no-trade clause.) So they either need to sign Lamar, a guy who turns 30 before the season ends, to a new long term contract, where the odds that he's still playing, much less well, by the end of it are near zero, or bite the bullet and do a near complete rebuild.

Did I mention the Ravens have the least 2027 cap space in the league, at $55M over the 2026 cap (we won't know 2027 caps for a bit, but most think it won't be a massive increase)? If anything, the Ravens should be tanking to improve their QB options.
