I love the Olympics. Skip all the political bullshit, never mind the fact that the host country will lose money, screw all of that. I love watching the world compete like this. I have known quite a few Olympic athletes, and they are always so geeked for the games.
It hasn't' "officially" started, opening ceremonies are Friday, but tonight I'm watching curling. Most Americans have no idea how curling works, but it's such a fun game to watch, especially if you've played it. We have a local curling club, and all my kids play, and it's a riot. Whenever we're home together we either go to a pick up hockey game or we split into teams and go curling.
I feel like curling should be a popular sport here at FOH. You can be fat, drinking a beer, and still be a decent curler.
The hockey rink isn't done, and I think there are going to be issues when the NHL players show up to locker rooms with shitty metal benches and small hooks on the wall instead of individual stalls. The neutral zone is so short it is crazy. It's small enough that I believe many of the players are going to have a hard time adjusting. We're going to see a record number of off-sides. The giant slalom isn't great. Snow is falling hard, and we'll see if the Italian Olympic Committee can get shit done.
