So it won't print files that are named "Illegal super dangerous fully auto assault weapon.pdf" or something? I have a feeling that people will figure out that they should name it "kitchen spatula" instead. I doubt they can figure out that it's a gun part from the actual file.

The only hope that proposal has of being enforceable is an after the fact charge to add on to.

So I have a work desk in my basement that is enclosed to the ceiling on three sides. Above this desk is a range hood - I took an extra big one out of a semi-industrial building a while ago and put it in here. Changed the fan so it moves so much air it's crazy. I typically do things like solder, spray paint, and smoke the occasional cigar down here, can't smell any of it in the house. Would that be sufficient for ventilating a 3D printer?

Overkill for an FDM for sure. I'd keep that vent off while you're printing, unless you get an enclosed printer.

Airflow and heat retention are major issues with FDM printing, my previous living arrangements had such a draft that I was unable to print at all. It can really affect your prints.

It would make the possession or sharing of gun related files a crime. Also give police power to investigate sources of files.

Would require gun manufacturers to build pistols that can not be converted with printed parts.

Think there might be 2 bills being worked on. No idea chances on being passed.

Its funny how they are focusing on this BS while there is like 450 million REAL guns in this nation many of which are not registered and they have no clue how many there are and where they came from. Its even easier for someone to just buy a black market gun than print a thing and hope it works, lol. So fucking stupid and such a waste of time and tax dollars. This shit is more for hobbyists fucking around seeing what they can make. Bad guys buy the REAL thing, why? Because they can and they dont give a fuck about your laws.
