I was not a fan of this movie.

besides being very repetitive (it shows the same events from 3 different perspectives, with a LOT of overlap), it had an unsatisfying conclusion, and didn't show off really anyone's acting other than Idris Elba and maaaaybe Jared Harris.

The most true-to-life realistic thing about it, was how unprofessional, unprepared, and downright retarded these people in the highest positions of power really were. They tried to be apolitical, but cmon when you have a black president whose wife is in Kenya, and women in every level of authority, we know which side of the isle this administration is supposed to be.

They gave this a very limited theatrical run in a transparent attempt to make sure that it's eligible for every award, but I'm just not seeing anything here deserving even a nomination for anything.

That was well done, however it did lack the finish. It has been a long time. I think the public is due for an updated version of "The Day After". With the effects we can do and the knowledge of the consequences, I imagine that movie would be watched by a lot of people. Given our current environment, it would not be such a bad idea to remind the world again the consequences of a nuclear war.

Hollywood loves to remake movies. How about remaking one that might actually have a small effect on the world.

This felt like 3 prologues to a movie I'd be very interested in watching, and just a handful of actors in the right roles from being just some forgettable SyFy slop.

I liked it a lot, but man, as someone who likes this kind of stuff, it's blue balls the movie.

Feel like I need to go watch something like Sum of all Fears now so I can actually see some follow-through on something.

Was disappointed by this. As others have said, it tells the exact same story 3 times over. You get the gist of it the first time and then it just repeats. What other movies like it have done is push the story forward a little bit in the 2nd retelling, a bit more and a bit more until it finally gives the conclusion. This just lacks any of that and leaves you hanging.

Reminded me of her version of the Last Duel with Matt Damon. Only that film had a conclusion. I didn't hate this. The individual chapters were good. I dont know I agree with Bigelow's decision to now show an ending. Though my take is, based on the football guy suggesting to the President to nuke them all into a cinder, it gets really ugly. I think that was her intent, especially with the bit about the podcast describing a House of Dynamite. To show nukes bad, and nukes will eventually kill us all.

One thing I take for Gospel though. This movie showed us exactly what the govt will do in a crisis. Not tell the citizens a fucking word and let us all die oblivious. Killer asteroid, nuke war, it doesnt matter. They will keep it quiet to the end so they can maintain control. Fuckers.

My favorite part was how they were penny pinching and decided to launch only 2 GBIs with a 61% chance on each. I believe they said something about saving the other 48 GBIs they had should more missiles get launched. If its one rogue missile you cant risk it hitting worrying about a swarm of potential incoming missiles because if it even comes to that well the whole planet is getting fucked anyhow because its on like Donkey Kong at that point. So risking the single missile getting through is a level of stupid I'm sure our government would probably replicate.

Lets be honest though, it was only Chicago. Had that missile been headed for DC, all those fuckers on that conference call would have been like "Launch all 50 of the motherfuckers right now!!!"

I watched this last night and after the 2nd flash back as it was going to start a 3rd I was like "Come the fuck on" when do I get to see Chicago get nuked.

Glad I came to this thread at the same time it was about to start the 3rd flashback and I Was getting frustrated as fuck with everything and just quit watching.

I am SO sick to death of these movies that do not show a fucking conclusion to a story. Wrap the fucking movie up - have a start, middle, end. I do not care if your ending sucks but at least fucking have one. Jesus I am tired of this "Art" of "You can initertpret how the movie ends".

No dumbfucks - I am watching your movie so I want to watch how you fucking end the God Damn thing.

The Last Duel was Ridley Scott.

I honestly liked the movie a lot. The tension building was great and I kept thinking, what the fuck would I even do knowing that the end of the world is nigh? Really well made.

But if you don’t intend to let me fuck, don’t start playing with my balls you feel? Show me them nuke titties.

I think the best line in the movie is Idris complaining how he had an hours training on engaging in nuclear war and the Sec Def telling him they only spend time training on things that might actually happen.
