I just download torrents and my plex server can see the torrent download folder and they just appear in plex automatically.

yeah, I’m not sure what my friend uses to automate his downloads but it’s super convenient.

Sometimes I threaten that I’m going to request all 30 seasons (6,714 episodes) of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show and watch him freak out.

Its not really any different, I just download torrents and shows appear. He's doing this through the plex interface?

No. It was originally something he had through discord, but now that just sends the notifications when something in the automated request queue is downloaded.

Now it’s an app he has us log into (not plex). He doesn’t do anything with it at this point except maintain the server he runs and delete old content to make room for new.

there's a bunch of apps you can install on NAS/plex servers like sonarr (TV), radarr (movies), overseerr (request anything) that basically automate it all. There are hundreds, like ones that add subtitles or download user cover art.

overseerr is what you are talking about, its a web interface that lets friends who have access to your plex server request any movie/show/anime. It shows everything new (or old) and users can request the NAS to auto download it. There are tons of admin options like only certain users can do requests, or you can override requests or only allow 1080p downloads or whatever

Thats what I meant though by this stuff makes netflix/HBO/AppleTV/etc obsolete, once you get these apps setup its all automated. I just have to tell overseerr to auto download 4K HDR copies of Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and it'll automatically handle it all for me for past and future seasons, after I configure it to download from a private tracker with my key. There are a ton of 200TB private plex servers hosted in datacenters that are shared between 5-20 users and they each basically contain everything popular ever made.

yeah that’s it I think. It works really well. I requested movies that aren’t releasing until next year. It’s a great program.

This actually looks interesting. "Set in a time where dragons still existed within living memory" is what got me, as someone who often wonders what kinds of craziness occurred over the 200 to 900 thousand (depending on who you ask) years of human history that we don't have access to.

So the guy is really tall, and his woman-friend is also really tall?

The actress that plays Tanselle was in Madame Web, she was the kid that towered over the other two. I think.

In the story, he is 6'11" and she is 1/2 a head shorter. Irl, he is 6'5" and she is around 5'11"

I am cautiously curious. What was exciting about the other two versions, were the dragons. Now we get to see the world with no dragons but perhaps still magic? A preview would help some.

Don’t expect dragons and a big, magical scale to this show, either. “Nobody's thinking about magic,” Parker said. “This could basically be 14th century Britain. This is hard nose, grind it out, gritty, medieval knights, cold with a really light, hopeful touch. It's a wonderful place to be. We are ground up in this series, we are starting right at the bottom. We're not with the lords and ladies, the kings and queens"
Parker is showrunner.

each season supposed to be a self-contained for the most part
there are 3 novellas out in the series. grrm has said he plans to write many more, but last one came out like 10 years ago. after the novellas dunk pops up a few more times, so that could also be parts of the series too.

I cannot believe any of you would start a TV show based on anything that Fat Fuck hasn't finished yet.

He is never finishing this series, just like he is never finishing Winds.

That's the reason I asked whether or not it was a one and done deal. I won't buy any books from that tubby bastard ever again. I just find it hilarious that he's writing all kinds of other crap and never finished his magnum opus or whatever the hell you want to call it.

However the trailer made the show look pretty good, and if it was just a single season with a tight story, I'm okay for that, but if it's going to be stretched out over multiple seasons, ehhhhhhhh.
