Maybe the show is only 30 minutes because that's how much good writing can fit into an episode nowadays. Whatever reason, it's working.

I think that's where shit usually gets murky. When they feel the need to "fill" so they invent characters or create more backstory for minor characters and the writers take a little too much creative liberty and often go off-tone from the source material. All in the name of getting in that extra 10-15 minutes an episode. This gratefully doesn't have that problem.TBH this has been a super faithful adaptation and for what’s left it will cover the first story perfectly. They didn’t feel the need to make up new shit to pad it out and I’m all for it. Also this will have been really reasonable price to make and it took a risk on 2 chars that the general audience don’t know.
Fuck that, entertainment companies will keep giving us the middle finger cause we keep consuming their shit and when they give us a decent show it's a six 30 mins episodes per season once a year.Maybe the show is only 30 minutes because that's how much good writing can fit into an episode nowadays. Whatever reason, it's working.

I think they've done a great job of translating at least the graphic novel to screen so far; I think that maybe some of the stuff I thought would be had been moved to the end (The small folks gassing Dunk up, as someone up thread said) I heard tonight had been cut and not moved. I think they've actually improved on the GN at least in the adaptation in some ways, some of the characters come off the screen way better than the come off the page.; again, at least in the GN.It's not 100% 1:1 with the short story - all the hanging with Lyonel stuff is new, IIRC, and it looks like we're getting flashback stuff, probably next week - but its the closest this franchise has been in years.
Unfortunately, I thought this was the best out of the Dunc short stories, so yes, we'll have to see just what they end up adding to pad in later seasons.
