Anyone remember much about the original Aion? I vaguely remember in mass PvP we were all like single polygon icons instead of rendered characters, and there were a TON of stuns in PvP.

The PvE and wing mechanics were unique at the time. I might give the fresh server a go as I'm between games.

Aion was great. PvP waas mostly done through "rifting system" where there was a random rifts spawning from both Elysea and Asmodea to and from. I know Asmodians also had a quest that took them to Elysea from the citadel in Eltnen.

Had quite some fun in that game.

I remember the PVP was pretty cool and it was one of the first games to have "flying" via gliding. It also made my gaming laptop nearly explode every time I played it.

It had some cool PVPVE where two teams zoned into a zone and there was a PVE target and you both went for it for rare spell runes and you could kill each other and stuff. Kind of neat face off type BG.

I briefly had the best ranger gear in the world because the one week lockout dungeon had a like 3% chance to drop any classes armor on boss kills and I happened to get 3 pieces and an extended bow (built in haste) out of sheer luck. Pretty sure they made it less RNG fairly quickly, but in the first few weeks it was pretty fucking bad.

The mass PVP was good but about 0.25% of the player bases computers could handle 150 people flying through the air spamming skills and shit on each other. I'm sure it'd do much better in a modern iteration.

Aion was great for a while, at launch the small scale PvP was excellent, rifting into levelling areas and causing mayhem with my small group. Much like warhammer online once there were a bulk of players at high levels and most pvp was 30+ vs 30+ it turned to shit.

Game came out when I was pretty busy IRL, but I do recall the assassin class being pretty slick to play. I also recall having serious envy of the tank class once they had good gear as they did crazy damage and were unkillable. IIRC the game had some sort of system where a specific player or set of players could be elected or something and get a title and a buff that made them super powered in PVP? I can't recall the details.

I just remember there was BLATANT botting. It was on a different level.

It was a generic MMO. The gliding was cool at the time.

Had some old school slow xp grinding, and multiple mobs could mean a wipe, if I recall correctly. Maybe some of the pantheon crowd would like tbis

It was Korean shlock iirc with some pedo vibes. I played a friar, I remember the pve/pvp contested zone was a spaceship or some shit.

I mainly remember that I could have different coloured eyes, which I really love. And when it rained you'd have this cute leaf umbrella.

This game was terrible, at launch it took poop socking to a whole new level. Guild size was super limited, spawn times were far too slow and only one leveling path so you were literally camping one or two mob spawns to get any where.

In short fuck this game.

I played this quite a bit and have very fond memories of clearing S rank Dark Poeta however the grind was absurd and this was not a casual or semi casual player friendly game. At the height I could easily 3v1 regular geared folks and Abyss hunting was a lot of fun. There was a lot of cool shit that looking back on I wouldn't tolerate now though (having enough points to transform meant that you really only came out to transform and you couldn't actively PVP as dying was such a colossal loss of points, etc). I did regret never playing the expansion as they seemed to focus on the rifting aspect more and this was a lot more fun to me originally but there was too many good games out at the time.
