How the hell are you getting no ads on stupid Disney? I fired it up for a month watch this and I'm getting stupid advertisements every 15 minutes. Is there some sort of ad blocker I need to be using for my stupid windows 11 bullshit?

Are they like Amazon now where you got to pay a little bit more so you don't get ads?

Whole fucking show is a rainbow of diversity. I'm watching the second episode, and I'm going to try my best to delay passing judgment, but I don't think it's looking very good.

Everything from all 3 services is accessible from the Disney+ app (which using an Apple TV device is pretty good and always 4K if available), and I make use of the downloading feature since I travel for work a fair bit. No ads on anything unless you watch live TV which I do not.

Well damn it. I do most of my stuff through Amazon which is where I've got max out of how long was stuff like shudder, I don't know you could bundle that stuff together.

I am getting to the point where I'm just getting fed up with streaming services and all of their bullshit.

I think the last time I had Disney I got it through Amazon but I guess that changed and maybe that was after they bought Hulu or whatever happened? I honestly don't know.

He has all the lines of a synth that is going to decide humans are lesser and not worth saving over aliens. He and the black synth are the two best characters by far.

I appreciate the fact that the kills are also diverse. Every color and sex is getting butchered.

Second episode is good, too. Somehow the show has made some characters that act well enough to care about.

There is still some dumb shit, and the laziest part is the Alien is strong or weak enough to move the plot forward. But I want to watch the next episode for everything *except* the xenomorph. In Alien:Earth the titular character is the least interesting part of the show.

There's diversity but it's almost all background characters. Wendy, medic brother, Timothy, Boy prodigy, dame mother and other scientists are all white. The other hybrids are a mixed bag but more whiteish than not. Asian yutani is to be expected and I had no problem with the black cyborg.

Overall I enjoyed the first two and set the DVR for the rest.

Agree. The preteen hybrids present a ton of opportunity for interesting plot.

I'd bet the writers are using the aliens as mcguffins anyway with the "alien" being just one xeno present and the intro talked about the synth, cyborg, hybrid battle for immortality and nothing about aliens.

So critics got the whole season to review, and base don spoiler free reviews that I've seen the Alien gets more and more chance to shine as the season goes on and the slow burn at the start is intentional. They wanted to build up how fucked up the other 4 species were and then show how the Alien outshines them all even though we have preconceptions based on everything Alien that came before.

Yeah I dont see that. One second the Alien is insta jibbing a hotel room full of people in 10 seconds next it turns into a stalking killer that takes 10+ seconds to not even kill a single person. Its like a comic book hero, as powerful or weak as need to be for the story.

From the two episodes this seems about as smart and deep as every other show put out in the last 5-6 years. A well established IP used as a skinsuit by people who want to tell their own story that no one would ever watch on its own.

Magician Jim caught the alien with some sort of goo gun. He's Magician Jim because in the trailer he's pushing a raft along the river, and I figure if they're going to do a Peter Pan reference maybe they'll do a Huckleberry Fin deal.

Good Lord, this is hilariously bad, even though it looks amazing. Also, why the hell is a standard drone as fast if not faster than a runner?

The whole Goofy scene of the people dressed like French aristocrats was just retarded. So the alien goes in there and massacres and kills everybody like it was The Flash?

This whole goddamn show was made for modern audiences.

100% agree with this. It absolutely feels more like the comics/novels with some of the xeno kills (people getting ripped to pieces and super brutal) vs the films. I don't necessarily mind it but the swings in strength are pretty jarring. One minute it's tearing a steel door apart but the next it only dents an elevator.

All of that aside, it has been a decent few episodes. I do think it's going to shift away from the monsters and focus more on the synthetics which at least looks to have some legs plot-wise. I would hope they put a kill switch in them because wtf would make a terminator with a pre-teen mind and free will.

Well we know he can see through their eyes, which they are either too young or ignorant to know right now. Also, his line to Wendy about following orders was a little ominous as well.

That scene was the worst in the entire two episodes, and really made me think it was going to be terrible. But then, the rest of that scene with the Alien in action was really good.

One thing I don't understand is them constantly framing the Alien as scary to the audience. Dramatic music and slow pans of its body, literal horror movie pauses and music. The Alien franchise is almost half a century old, for fuck's sake, it is not horror and is very jarring in an action show.

Haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Will check the first 2 episodes out today. Seems to be a mixed bag judging by this thread, but leaning more positive overall.
