I liked the episode. I don't like the xeno whisperer though. That whole arc is fucking retarded. It's like she learns a couple clicks and now she's a xeno queen? Wat?

But I'm still loving kirsch and morrow and the evil eyeball. I can't wait to see them drop someone in the cage with it and hear it talk.
It definitely seemed like it was trying to make the sheep talk but was unable to due to lack of vocal chords.

The Eyeball is honestly more entertaining to watch than the neutering of the Xenomorph in this series. Alien used to be scary because of the chaos that ensued when one was on screen, now it's just domesticated and gay.

Boy Kavilier remind me of a discount version of Paul Atreides and the brother is an even more annoying version of Huey from The Boys. I think they’re going to give the eye the corpse of the guy that hatched the alien to see if he can communicate with BK.

Jesus it's not about the powerfulness of the stupid protopulse rifle, but the fact that you've got all these highly trained commandos not blasting away at a goddamn monster wanting at them.

I mean what the hell. Like I said earlier I'm pretty sure there was a dude with a fucking smart gun, or maybe a minigun. They have the firepower but they didn't use it because the script requires it to just be retarded. He got a goddamn monster running at you, you figure somebody would have an itchy trigger finger. Maybe they miss who the hell knows it's so stupid.

I mean maybe that makes a little bit of sense because they've only got a couple of different aliens and running around, and you can't have a soldier blast it because then you're screwed with your shitty writing.

It's just bad form.

Remember that the Colonial Marines in Aliens (which takes place 59 years later so by then technology has evolved a lot) had a bunch of high-tech crazy weapons and ammo, including explosive rounds which is what really fucked up the xenomorphs when they were retreating to the APC and shot a bunch of them dead. Xenos were literally exploding in bursts of acid blood, but here they might as well be shooting them with NERF darts. Only electric rifle has done anything to a xeno so far in this show.
Hicks killed an alien with a regular old 12 gauge shotgun and vasquez killed one by shooting it in the head with a handgun.

Yes no show in the history of the world has ever had bad guys who can't hit the broad side of a barn. It's like they invented an entirely new trope here.

The trope where "bad guys can't shoot" is a common unrealistic depiction in media where villains consistently miss their targets, even with firearms at close range, to allow the hero to survive and defeat them, highlighting a lack of credible threat from the antagonist. This trope, also known as Hero-Tracking Failure, serves to ensure the hero's victory and is often employed to showcase the protagonist's skill or the villain's incompetence, making for more exciting and protracted action sequences.

Why the Trope is Used

Hero Protection: It creates a narrative where the hero is almost never in true danger, making them seem invincible.

Escalating Conflict: By missing shots, villains provide more opportunities for the hero to engage in combat, leading to more elaborate and prolonged action scenes.

Showcasing Skill: The hero can demonstrate impressive feats of athleticism or marksmanship by effortlessly dodging bullets and disarming enemies.

Narrative Convention: It's a long-standing convention in action and adventure stories, where the audience expects the forces of good and evil to ultimately be separated and the good guys to win.

Examples of the Trope

Mass Misses: In many action films and TV shows, a group of villains will fire at a lone hero, with their shots missing by inches or completely failing to hit the target.

Bad Aim in Close Combat: Villains often run up to the hero to attack, providing an easy target for the hero to knock away their weapon or defeat them before they can effectively use it.

Unrealistic Accuracy: While characters like Daleks and Commandos can shoot down planes and hit targets with incredible precision, they often struggle to hit a charging hero in dramatic scenes.

Hicks killed an alien with a regular old 12 gauge shotgun and vasquez killed one by shooting it in the head with a handgun.

The shotgun was inserted inside the alien's mouth, I'm sure that contributed greatly to how much damage it did. Vasquez was shooting pretty much point-blank (she was using her foot to keep the alien's head fixed while she emptied her clip into its head), and we don't really have information about the ammo inside that handgun. Again, this happens nearly 60 years after Alien Earth, even antiques at that point may be better than what is cutting edge in this show.

I'm just saying it's hard to compare two teams of soldiers when one (Emergence commando) has strict orders to not damage the specimens and the other (Aliens' Colonial Marines) is specifically on a bug hunt mission.

plus they showed bullets can bounce off their dome with the alien that cuts off the escape

Wasn’t the point of Wendy is that she can hear them …on a frequency that only she is picking up and others can’t just like a dog whistle

So why is she repeating back to the alien but now it’s using vocalization that is now in human understanding frequency?

I was so going to throw my controller though the screen if they had close captions pop up showing she is having a full conversation with it

Will Ferrell talking to his dog in anchorman is more believable and he doesn’t even speak Spanish !

You are way way over thinking this. You really think the writers of this went "hey remember how in aliens the pulse rifles fired 10mm armor piercing exploding rounds? Yeah well they clearly aren't gonna have something that powerful in 2060 so guns will be useless against the xenos!"?

They didn't. The threat is always as powerful or as weak or dumb or smart as needed based on what the script calls for there's no logic or continuity behind any of it.

If I remember correctly, and this is some nerd shit, standard rounds for people killing in the aliens cannon was essentially a plastic or polymer round that was basically useless against an armored xenomorph. The WY squad was going to aquire an already contained xeno and probably didn't bring any heavy shit.

Or it's just really fucking awful writing.

You misunderstand. I'm not saying the writers thought all this through, or that they worship the previous canon entries so much they know every little detail. I'm saying there's enough groundwork for it to to make sense in the larger universe, which I guess is more a compliment to the writers of previous entries who provided enough that stuff can be explained and expanded upon even in content made 40 years later.

Wendy was special because she could hear the xenomorph embryo, inside the facehugger, itself inside the egg... that's the frequency no one could pick up. Once Kavallier asks her to vocalize it through her built-in speaker, she's been using it in human-ear range ever since the xenomorph hatched I'm pretty sure.

As the Peter Pan allegory goes, this makes the Xenomorph the crocodile and the frequency she hears is the clock ticking, but it's a little muddled because I'm pretty sure Captain Hook is meant to be Morrow with his omnitool arm, and Wendy has not much to do with that in Peter Pan's story.

Ok well I thought it was what she hears = alien speaking and therefore their language, I didn’t think to break it down like baby goo goo sounds all way to full adult speaking but then even that doesn’t make sense

tadpole = thinking/feeling
Face hugger = thinking/feeling
Chestburster = googoo sounds gibberish?
Xenomorph drone / warrior = actually talks ?

or all are able to mentally speak feel each other out

so she was hearing signals like what they are thinking / feeling ? And that truly equals communication?

or what we are use to hearing the hissing and screams and seeing reactions from the aliens to each other proving actual communication?

It's hard to tell exactly about xenomorph communication / language because we don't see it too often in the films :

Alien : there is only one xenomorph, so we just get the usual attack hisses/shrieks, no discernible language.

Aliens : the hive wakes up when the marines kill/burn the chestburster which shrieks loudly, but that could also simply be from the noise they made so it's not really evidence. The queen is shown hissing and turning her head in the direction of her drones and they back off once Ripley is threatening to burn the eggs, so that could be an example of language.

Alien 3 : again there is only one xenomorph, we see some body language especially in the scene with it coming close to Ripley, but other than that all we get is again the usual hisses and shrieks.

Alien Resurrection : this one has a full-on multi-xenomorph conversation going on in the holding cell, when they decide Xeno-Bob got the short straw and must be killed to make their exit.

AvP : the xenormophs led by Grid go to free the queen, and attack her so her acid blood can break down the chains, it seems she orders them to do it, so that's another example.

AvP Requiem : no particular examples of xeno-language, and the main xeno is a Predalien so it's too different from what we know to really count in my opinion.

Alien Romulus : no particular examples of xeno-language as far as I remember.

So really, if a writer wants to explore the possibility of actual xenomorph language, and even one that could be learned and spoken (though not by a normal human vocal chords), there's enough groundwork to roll with it.

As I understood the show though, Wendy's initial "special noises" she could hear were more like distressed noises from the xeno-embryo. You don't exactly need to speak fluent human baby speech to understand when a human baby has a problem and is crying though. It's only once the xeno has hatched and is growing that she begins to be able to establish some communication with it, but we know almost nothing about it, it could be a very basic language with simple concepts like "kill, hide, ambush, attack", it doesn't mean there's whole conversations going on. When she is cooing at it in its cell, it might just be the equivalent of a human going pspspsps with a cat.

You know what is great writing, you are the yutani bitch and you decide that best person to infiltrate prodigy with like one squad of dudes is a literal sleeping beauty who is 65years behind the times.

This like if Patton woke up from hyper sleep and he said he all take out the cartel with a few shermans

Yes, the best time to introduce a new important leader character is in the middle of episode 7 of a 8 episode season. Also, have the second most important character of the antagonist faction and with the most screen time suddenly do nothing anymore after 6 episodes and just watch from the sidelines now, that's crucial.
