that’s written in order of how as if is new to things and all you have is compare before if it’s shit or not and so it’s a step up or down each time
explaining that the TV show we are on now feels better than the previous so at least that’s something
or think of it like the stock market in the first alien the IPO kick things off with great success and in the stock goes up with aliens and then the stock takes the nose die with a third movie bottoms out maybe comes up a little bit with the fourth movie you add in predator to try to revitalize the franchise, still neutral than the next one kind of a little bit better but now so just think of each up-and-down arrow as moving on the stock market and right now the alien franchise has never recovered to its first two movie numbers rating

Prometheus has cool visuals, but that's pretty much it. If I had to rank Alien and Alien-adjacent films, I too would probably rank it below AvP. Why? Because I didn't expect much from AvP but it's still a fun time with dumb stuff yes but it's pretty entertaining and is the kind of thing I wanted to see in the theater since I was a teenager. Prometheus on the other hand was supposed to be this epic new chapter in the Alien universe that would bring revelations about the origins of the aliens and create new mysteries, and instead we got even dumber shit than AvP such as the rolling-ship-chase and the map-dude-gets-lost-despite-having-gps-map-drones, and the list goes on, the whole plot really makes no sense if you scratch the surface even just a little. As was stated previously, the only decent thing in Prometheus was Fassbender, and even that got ruined in Covenant.
Ridley Scott is the reason why we even have Alien stuff in the first place, but goddamn if he hasn't tried to be the one to bury it for good too. Dude delivered some great films but that was a long time ago and I think he's lost his touch long ago at the bottom of a bottle, probably why he's been drinking so many of them trying to find it again. He is currently the worst threat to the Alien universe, even George Lucas wasn't this focused on fucking up his own legacy.

As for Romulus, I thought it was fine if a bit too heavy-handed on the callbacks, but there's at least one thing I'm thankful for, they managed to find a clever way to reconcile the stupid ass black goo from Prometheus/Covenant and the actual Alien lore.
The scientists on Renaissance Station are shown extracting the mutagenic black goo from the facehuggers, which makes sense because there has to be something in the alien life cycle to explain how it can wildly mutate into something completely different based on the host's DNA. By doing that, they basically absorbed the only element of Prometheus/Covenant relevant to Alien lore into the main Alien universe, therefore nullifying the need for any more of those stupid ass movies to explain anything.
I wasn't a big fan of the ending creature either, though I'll admit it was really creepy and I like how they did a fair bit of it without any CGI which I always appreciate.

I just finished it and I honestly want them to do another season because it's so hilariously absurd I want to know where the hell they're going to take it. I cannot imagine that the second season wouldn't be utterly awesome from just a retarded standpoint.

It's a shame because there were elements of the show that were really good but then it just goes down the drain. I know I have said it before multiple times but I think it's the writer's room executives whatever the hell you want to call it making the calls on just dumbass stuff.
It's unfortunate because it could have been really good, and I watched it because I had high hopes, and a bunch of people said this Noah Holly guy was some sort of prodigy, pun intended. I don't care to watch any of his other shit after stomaching this abomination.
It just sucks because our South African savior was going to make probably one of the greatest Alien films ever and probably at least somewhat closest to the comics that we would have enjoyed. Blomkampf knows how to make stuff look good and I guarantee you it would have been an amazing movie.

Only one I'm not sure of is Alien Earth's placement. Sometimes it's a lot better than Alien 3, sometimes it isn't. Not exactly a high bar, but Alien 3 is a little better than people remember.
AVPR is way below everything else on the list and is complete dogshit
Prometheus and Covenant are really good IMO. Prometheus suffers from the retarded cast and avoidance of being a prequel (just be a prequel and be done with it, dammit), plus some of the best stuff was deleted or altered (like the semi-xeno that one of the characters turns into). Covenant actually fares better than Prometheus by going all in with Xenos and David ruling over a hell world. Thought Romulus was better than it got credit for and had some really stunning moments.
