The Fires of December: It's fine.
Taking place in a world where people bind 'demons' (Negative Investiture beings) into doing their bidding, you can already guess what the ending is.
Another story taking place in the gap years between Mistborn Era 2 and 3 and Stormlight 1 and 2, it is essentially a time loop story. By pure chance, the last three movies I saw were Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die, Palm Springs, and Boss Level, so I may have just been time looped-out when I read this.
The book has far less hints about the Mistborn 3+ era than Isles did, aside from vaguely supporting that the Cosmere as we know it so far is just a human preserve set up by Adonalsium.
Sanderson Slide To Woke Watch: There's one sentence mentioning an unnamed character is non-binary. Two sentences mention a named character marrying a former rival without referencing that rival's sex. That's it.
Edit: I have no idea who The Prophet is. Vasher / Zahel seems the most likely candidate, but he should be training Lift in the gap years.
