I'm not fan of Albion. Depressing weather and the houses all look the same. I spend 90% of my time in Latium.

Took a few days break, but will continue my playthrough today. Still need to get Hand mirrors up and running in Albion and the last of the T4 amenities going.

Albion is a bitch to build up. Small islands and annoying swamps.

Current Main City right now, trying to make the farm and industry area a bit better now while I wait for stuff to build and ship.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what, but... THEYRE RIPPING US OFF ON TRADE

I goes to buy a specialist and see a reasonable price of 120K

When I try to buy it, they want 1.2M, what gives?

You make me want to go back and buy specialists because Ive been playing the game almost 100% without them. But yet.. I have everything maxxed out. My big "Atoll" island is like Baby Huey and is just fed by all the outer colonies/islands of peasants delivering everything like Uber Eats.

Some of the builds Ive seen people do on Reddit also make me feel like Im a little bit too business oriented in my builds. Some really pretty cities people have built, but I cant help but be like "No, no. That doesnt work. That housing tile extends just one too far for that building to reach it."

Anyways:

re: specialists, one of my complaints about Anno 1800 was that specialists are what turn your efficient but mediocre city into a gigachad producer, but the cost, effort and tedium to get specialists is so much you don't really need them. This is illustrated in challenging gameplay where if you dick around trying to recruit specialists you can get outworked by an aggressive AI.

I ended up creating a ticket: Bug Reporter | Ubisoft and rolled back a save. Then it happened again. idk if I'm doing something to trigger it or am just ignorant about how the game works. But I'm going to put the game down for a bit until I get some answers.

re: builds, there are usually four phases for every building game:
1. Trash builds where you don't know wtf you're doing and stuff doesn't fit together.
2. Highly efficient, but boring builds that work well.
3. Highly efficient, but visually interesting or realistic or fun builds that work well.
4. Trash builds where you DO know wtf you're doing, stuff doesn't fit together but you designed it that way as a joke or challenge.

I always try to achieve #3, but #4 are the best ones.

I had been sleeping on buy orders the whole game. But setting up T3 on multiple islands in Albion started to break me. Put in some buy orders and the NPCs filled them in minutes.

Got all amenities shipping to my main city now. 7.6m in bank right now and making 11k per minute.

Playing on normal though and it hasn't really been a challenge besides some asshole pirates sinking my ships every now and then. I get pissed off and nuke their entire fleet when that happens but have not tried raiding their base as of yet.

I'm giving up on this save with its cursed traders, lol. Literally nobody else on the Internet is talking about this bug.

I'm going to start a new save in sandbox mode or whatever. Hard mode for pretty much everything but the AI and island size, wish me luck in not getting this but again.

I am forever tainted by Dungeon Crawler Carl. I can’t read a post like this without first hearing “New achievement!” in Jeff Hayes’ voice.

I've got the three islands I wanted before upgrading to T3. I've leaned into specialization as much as I can, with different dieties. Playing with everything on hard is a lot more fun than the campaign that used default settings. My first island I boosted the population to absurd levels and quickly found out the City Status debuff turned my city into a hellscape. Spreading out to multiple islands makes it much easier to keep things healthy, clean and happy. Behold,

1_Garumia , worships Neptune and makes fish stuff

2_Olivia, worships Ceres and makes farm stuff

3_Togia, worships Minerva and makes toga stuff

The Specialist Items in this game are way weaker than Anno 1800, but still useful enough to pursue that grind. There are a few that turn the workforce into Plebeian.

I initially scoffed at until I realized Plebs have way better health/happiness/fire scores than Libertus, while alsobeing twice as dense and profitable per house.
