I will have to try this today before it ends. Just to see if its worth it. I don't think I have ever played a extraction shooter, so not 100% sure what is going on, only what I can read about it.

Too many things to play this month.
TLDR, just keep in mind being too slow and methodical is your enemy. Match has like 30 mins, and you have 2 kinds of extracts. Elevators which begin closing down at random times during the match. They also require to be called which makes a lot of sound and light, then you get in, and activate it with a 10 second switch and it closes up. Anyone can jump in last second and you if downed and nearby can crawl in and activate yourself. I want to try suppressed pistol for little bots, because your biggest enemies is breaching loot when folks are near or gunfire all can get you swarmed by players. Loot seems so plentiful and with the high end stuff being useless due to crafting being so locked down, you can easily try to loot most of a bag and extract right away in 5 minutes to kinda try the loop without dying after 30 minutes and feeling wasted. Also can when you go to deploy, choose free gear. Limited weight capacity, and gives you a kettle which seems like one of the worst guns (slow reload, single fire not very strong)

Hatches require a kinda expensive key, so want to keep it in your safe pocket but have less people around them, open instantly and quietly. That's my method going forward.

Drones etc shoot the engines, solo try to avoid rocketers one missed rocket dodge is death. Anything really big avoid. Little crabs wonder aimlessly but then face hug you kinda annoying. I saw a surveyor ball which I think is different than maybe some smaller ones, I old man failed at dodging it rolling into me, but attacks then runs away.

There's a testing zone thats neat because it has a turret enemy and a lot of grenades and other things you can't buy/craft currently. I wish there was a bigger safe pocket because ziplines and deployable barriers you can re pick up are cool and I bet clutch trying to fight some of the bosses with a squad.

Game was a lot of fun, played for few hours Friday night. The immersion with the sound design and graphical look is fantastic. Never really was into extraction shooters although I enjoyed watching Tarkov. For all the little systems they have, their UI is simple enough that clicking through things wasn't that bad. Bit of a learning curve figuring out tiers of loot/materials (like which to recycle, which to just sell, etc)...so I get where people are saying too much stuff you couldn't do anything with in this test. Felt like anything green or blue you really weren't going to be able to use to make anything.

Still had fun, though, likely a buy. I like how you get spoon fed bit of story through cutscenes after completing X amount of quests, too.

Figured out V is slow walk/stealth.

Found a lever action garand. Put my lv 2 blue suppressor from the player challenge cards on it. One shot one drone, but at half durability was missing pretty bad. Pretty sick.

Unlocked enough quests where I got a cutscene and now branched into 3 quests at once.

I love some little bits of synthwave music. Some of the higher level explosives are crazy, was shocked at the aoe distance on like the heavy fuse grenades, get someone to bunker in a small room and your going to have a good time.

Little sad you cant hot key everything but it's growing intuitive to hold Q to select a quick item and have whatever I want ready to go. I think there's going to be a higher skill ceiling being able to quickly swap between some of the big/fast heal items.

Preordered.

Edit: Aw fuck gotta have some tier 2 stuff to repair my garand thingy. Also fucking keys on a pretty long cooldown to buy and ingredients are t2. fkkk

I got a team wipe yesterday and looted two blueprints from the players before extract. Was pumped. Realized I couldn't make the guns because you can't upgrade bench during the test. Haven't played since. Will probably buy.

This game is interesting because a LOT of people are excited about it, but the base game itself can be pretty difficult at times. Low amounts of healing/ammo with PVE enemies which can at best take a few of your precious ammo and at worst fuck your ass mega quick or drain all your ammunition. Using light ammo versus robots sucks ass and aiming for weak points helps, but once wasps/hornets lose a rotor and start doing 360 spins, good fucking luck with that.

Ammo was such an issue (I almost exclusively did free loadouts and ran to ammo/healing static spawns in world) that I ended up meleeing something like 5-10 raiders. Some of them ONLY melee, because I just had no ammo at all. Obviously once you build up a cache of goods you can just go in with 160 ammo and it'll be less of an issue, but running out of ammo on PVE, not reliably finding ammo in open world, then having to fight people with ammo sucked. It's nice the melee is not COMPLETEY worthless like other games.

Shields are also weird right now. They not only absorb but mitigate damage which is a huge bonus, but unless you make/find shield rechargers you're probably losing them immediately to some bullshit. It'd be nice if you got a very slow passive shield regen somehow later, but for the most part it feels like after the first fight you're going to be at 50% effective health the rest of the game. Definitely more a freebie problem than a setup kit as your med station can craft them pretty quickly, but seems like a pretty hefty penalty for freebie loadouts.

Mention freebies, I'm not sure if they'll be blocked from certain maps in the full game or not? But hopefully that's the case. Even if you're way less effective as a freebie against a full loadout in combat, you can often just vulture teamfights and basically get infinite gain for minimum effort while fucking other people over. This is mostly what I did for the ~10 hours I played yesterday with my duo. Once our storage was full we just rushed gunshots and got in it, with nothing to lose, and everything to gain. And depending on the freebie RNG (Ferro>>>>Kettle) we could just blast even geared players if caught in a bad situation. Add in the free throwables you usually get and we were quite the pain. I'm guessing in more elite loot areas they'll not allow freebies because of that. Kind of like not allowing Scavs on Labs in Tarkov.

Dunno, don't have that problem as much. I don't play it as pubg like, make sure it's more ambushing when it's players, 2 guns helps a lot, a smg ish for low dmg, and something heavier to semi snipe/ambush/bots. Right now I'm starting to try the stealth pistol but dmg is so low only really good for indoor weak bots and wasps. Hornets kinda suck since they tend to be in 2's. Not sure why it's not double wasp single hornet.

One nice thing about freebies if you extract, you can turn the mod into a standard one. Certainly feels like you dont lose anything hardly and can play rounds quick. Good and bad. I mean I had that tier 2 gun that was sick, losing that sucked. Went up a big zipline same time as someone coming down we both fell, and then lever action point blank with a rail and height between us I got kinda fucked by the 3rd person aiming.

This game doesn't limit "scav"/freebie runs like Tarkov does, or it didn't in the more open tech test back in May. I doubt they will change that - you want people to play and there are already downsides to freeruns (less loot spots, no safe pocket, start with tier1 shit) that don't make it too OP

I’m surprised to hear people had problems with stability. Game ran flawlessly for me and the people I was playing with. We had a great time despite the limitations of the test. Dozens of intense fights - I was having a good time even in the ones we didn’t win.

I might even spring for the upgraded fag version because why not.

The VOIP in this game is some of the funniest shit. I did a night raid and some guy calls the elevator and once the doors open, some guy using a Dalek soundboard rushes in and starts screaming exterminate and throwing fire nades everywhere lol

Yeah besides the crashing the game ran immaculately. Looking at some posts on the reddit after the test it looks like a lot of foliage is dependent on graphical settings so unfortunately it may be a low graphics or very customized graphics setting for sweatlords.

Would've really loved a duo mode, especially for the test slam where I think they could've managed, but I get them not trying to split the base and just funnel everyone for testing purposes.

I didnt listen closely, but that khazam video said there's like a hidden soft que difference. That solo you get mostly solo's and that seemed like it, groups mostly groups, but there is some crossover.

I feel like I always ran into people early and often even late. At least in the noob zone, I could do with maybe 2-3 less people in a map, or another 5 minutes on the timer so your patient methodical people can play at evasion recluses.

Yeah, they tried to put solos with solos and did a pretty good job of it for the most part, obviously it's not always possible. What helped is the staggered spawns where you'd spawn 10-15 minutes into a match. This meant they could fire a solo lobby incomplete then add solo players as the match went on. Originally I had heard that freebies only got into games late and that was some sort of their scav-esque punishment, allowing true blue geared players to get first dibs on good POI's, but running full loadouts last night we often got into games later, as much as I think 18 minutes in with actual loadouts. That could have been because we were a duo and they were trying to squeeze us into an existing duo lobby, but most of those very late games I'm not sure we saw anybody to fight, but we did see kills happening on the map.

Also a few Freebie games I think we did get into the game at 30 minutes, but that might have been when I did some solo runs I'm not sure.

Game is great but I worry about the no lifers that will inevitably ruin it for casuals.

Especially if they have things similar to tarkov where you can get items to help you hear better or increased armors etc. Especially not being able to queue up as solos and duos.

I gotta say though, these companies are doing a great job at padding my savings account.

I'm not aware of any radar-like things, but you can get some items like an "Arc cloak" where you basically hold up a EM jammer and Arc can't see you or anyone else close to you. Those can be useful on maps with higher Arc concentrations.

You can get better shields (in tech test 2 they had up to tier 3), but downside is you move much slower, have less inventory, are expensive to craft and equip (you need a "backpack module" that can accept t3 shields), and you need more shield rechargers to fully recharge it. There are talents that can mitigate that a bit.

I hadn't noticed, that's kinda crap. Like penalty for free sure, but it otherwise seems like it fucks you rolling up on a nearby POI and some guys camped out listening to you come in.
