I made out like a bandit on blueprints. With the recent announcement, I don't think its worth it anymore and I'll hang back and see how the game evolves. I would be nice if my investments would carry over to the next one since I'm not going to finish.

You can finish all the expedition steps to completion and choose not to go on the expedition. At least that is what was initially stated. So, you can have it all done and waiting and just not commit until you feel like it. No need to stop just short of completing it because it won't force you to reset.
Weapon BP's I agree, but suddenly not being able to make gun parts and some of those types of refiner items would hurt a lot. And the meds.The expedition rewards for the work required seem pretty meh. I personally think all the cosmetics in this game kinda look like ass, so unless this one wows I doubt I'd give a shit about it. The 5 skill points would be nice, but 5million is a lot. I have 177hrs in currently, max level and I'm sitting at just shy of 2mil in coin. Not quite certain what it would work out to be cash wise, but assuming best case scenario I could make it if I liquidated my entire stash and put in some effort over the next week. But the question remains.... but why?
I could do it for the challenge, but there really is no 'new' challenge to it. Just repeat what I did already with a prestige skin, albeit most likely harder since they have nerfed BP and Security Locker drop rate/quality.
The 5 extra skill points are nice, but it really feels like the skill tree system outside a few major skills (stam regen and security locker) is trivial at best, outright broken and not working at worst. So while grinding till you eventually unlock the whole tree is a thing the work to reward ratio just doesn't fit for me.
Losing all your BP is a thing that would hurt most, but at this point I enjoy just using a ferro and a kettle/stitcher. The 'no fucks given' loadout that can do it all just fine. I really wouldn't need any of my BPs in the future.
So... for me it feels kinda pointless. I'll prolly do it just for want of something else to do but I feel as if the juice has been squeezed out of this game and anything that's left really ain't worth it for serious play. Just a casual, drop in and loot/shoot when I'm bored between other games and want some variety.
IIRC, and according to the Wiki, grey guns take simple gun parts to upgrade and you can't make those via BP. So... if you are just using grey shit even those BPs don't matter.
If the blue bar is accurate, that pic seems to imply you only need ~3 million total to get the 5 skill points points instead of 5 million. Wonder if they might be backtracking on the total amount needed given the general backlash.

I haven't done the math, but according to someone who noticed the same thing.. the other two-ish million was part of the quest's to do the expedition. I know the donations alone were roughly 900k.. but all the pieces and parts, not sure if that equals the rest. I just accepted it at his word.
It's a window, you don't have to reset at this window.. but I believe you will have to wait til next window; is how i'm understanding it.. Right now, that window is the Dec 17-22.. and I'd guess the next window is somewhere around March/April.
