Pretty sure they remade this in the 90s as a direct to HBO movie - Daryl Hannah played the giant. All I remember from that movie is she tries to entice her husband with sex ideas and he responds with “wtf am I supposed to do? Put on a scuba suit?”, then at the end she joins the other giant women on the flying saucer after the army knocks her into some power lines and their husbands are basically pets

Most remakes are total shit, I agree. But that being said every blue moon you get the Thing, the Departed, Scarface and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

So all they need to do is include some obscure cameo and/or opening crawl hint referencing a previous 50-foot women movie, and suddenly it'll magically not be a remake :)
