Shit will make 2+ billion again. Like these are amusement park movies, fun to watch in the best way possible (giganto screen with best projector in 3D). I'm sure it will look even more amazing then the prior two but the story will be whatever but have amazing Jim Cameron action.

This is apparently the second half of the Way of Water, somehow Cameron made a 6 hour movie that he had to split in half, so it will pick up exactly where the last one left off. Whatever that was I have no memory of the story other then the underwater scenes looked phenomenal

I love these movies, guilty pleasure maybe. They are absolutely gorgeous to watch with amazing scenery, creatures etc. Some solid action that James Cameron can do. The stories for me are generic as fuck, but work just well enough to move the movies from action scene to action scene while showing gorgeous visuals.

I‘m looking forward to it.

The only thing that these movies have going for it is the visuals. The first one was just Dances with Wolves in space. The 2nd was just Water world. They're remaking Kevin Costner movies with giant blue CGI people.

If I recall, that's not really the case - instead when Cameron got funding from (then) Fox, it was for a planned set* of four sequels: Avatar 2, 3, and the beginning of 4 all take place in a row, with a time jump before the back chunk of 4 and 5, at which point the kids will all be adults.

Apparently all the motion capture for that first chunk of 4 has already been done, and the filming? (what do you call mostly performance capture work, production?) of the rest of 4 and 5 will be done back to back shortly - who knows if the rendering tech will get an upgrade as well.

This trailer.. sure looks like another one of these. Wake me up when they hit Earth in the back half of 4.

*Disney already had a scheduled release slot (now obviously outdated) for Avatar 5 back in at least 2019 - Full Disney movie schedule to 2020 and beyond

Visuals are gonna be great but using the same annoying villain in every movie is such a fail.

The story of 2 was pants on head retarded.

Hacking up space whales for their brain goo like literal 19th century whalers all the while you have perfect cloning technology that can produce perfect copies of native life.

The screenplay credits are the same for #2 and #3, but there aren't any extra story credits people. The other two credits are married to each other so... yeah more of the same for the narrative.
