That sounds terrible. Combining time travel and multiverses? Each one makes it so you've essentially got zero stakes. And now they've got two.

When you leave the theater and your first conclusion is "that entire story can just be undone immediately" what's the point? "Oh no, my favorite character died?!" Don't worry, there are a billion other ones we can just replace him with.

This will not fail and it will make money, it will be interesting to see how much profit it rakes in.
If this gets rave reviews from the right sources I might even be willing to go see this in theatre, I wouldn't do that for Star Wars or DCU.
However, as much as I want this to be good an equal part of me wants this to be the MCU's The Last Jedi. Cuz it would be funny... and I might go see it in the theatre if it's that bad.

It'll make a pile of money but not quite as much money as the suits are dreaming of. There will be a thousand "Are Super Heroes Back?" articles written. They will not "be back." Many will fail spectacularly including ones greenlit just because of the success of Doom.

don't watch John Campeam, but he is in the news for confirming the plot leak from late feb is real

should start around 58mins in.

Chris Gore from film threat said he confirmed it with someone at marvel.

still could be fake/wrong

that sounds fake as shit

Have you watched any of the more recent Marvel content? The stupider the idea is, the more likely it is to be true.

The plot leak sounds like fanfic that took known plot elements and stitched them together

That said, some Crisis on Infinite Earths style story lets them pick and choose what is “canon” going forward

until they need to undo that later lol

It's kind of a combination of the original Secret Wars and then the newer one from like ten years ago. Tony Stark as Doctor Doom was done in a story from The Exiles.

I don't know, it's been almost 10 years. Do you think anyone really cares about the old avengers? Given all the crap TV shows that have killed almost all interest in Disney Marvel I can't see this coming anywhere near old Avengers movies box office. I think 300 domestic 500 worldwide might be all it does.

As many articles mention, rumors to that effect have been floating around for months.

I doubt they're 100% accurate, not only because of reshoots, but because that outline sounds boring as hell - there's only three main action set pieces worth describing (Wolvy / Deadpool vs Spidey, X-Men vs Avengers / FF, and everyone losing at the end) - but the overall plot summary almost certainly is accurate, with Secret Wars taking place on a combined Battleworld.

DC fans can attest (and have, in this very thread) that de-multiversing is hard, and I don't expect the public reaction to be very positive. Even if you go into it assuming / knowing everyone is alive again at the end, you still have to get through formerly beloved protagonists killing quintillions of civilians in the interim. And, let's be honest, the "Bad Guy Wins and Sequel Takes Place in World He Wished Into Existence" is extremely similar to Infinity War / Endgame.

Nah, Avengers is still a circle-the-calendar, tentpole movie that people will be excited to go see. It will do over 1B and cause Disney to think they have it figured out again.....only to let shitty scripts and DEI cost them another few billion on the next 5 awful movies.

I'm still shocked when they did an animated Crisis on Infinite Earths it included destroying each cartoon universe including BTAS and the old Super Friends show from the 70s.

They did it on the Arrowverse as well - they had Smallville tv show Supes, Kingdom Come Superman but it was in the Reeves Superman universe, etc

heard interesting comment about tickets prices, doomsday can sell around 30% less tickets than endgame and make the same amount. 2019 avg ticket price was $9ish and today it is $16. if doomsday was to sell the same amount of tickets, it would make over $4b.

think it will be huge, but not the same as endgame. so far this year has the highest total box office since covid, but ticket sales are down like 45% from same time in 2019.

This needs 2B to break even

Infinity War was built up to over 8+ years, with some amazing movies along the way.

This one has been… built down to? Hey come see our movie even though our most recent 6 years of MCU media has been total steaming garbage with a heaping helping of DEI faggotry?

I’m not sure these two movies are in the same “hype” realm.

Once real trailers start coming out and that $300m marketing machine starts blasting ads in every corner of the internet, primetime tv, and in real life via billboards, bus adverts, etc. the hype will carry it to 2 billion easily making a profit. it'll probably make 250+ domestically just on opening weekend.

There's zero chance this movie bombs or even fails to break even. Zero.
