Goddamnit. What shitty shows/movies do I have to watch to get caught up on this? I have not seen Black Panther 2, Fantastic 4, Loki season 2.... Those are the ones it looks like I need to watch?

I had to look up Phase 5 MCU lol....

GoTG 3 was great, Loki S2 was fine, Thunderbolts was good and Deadpool was funny. I havent seen BP2, Cap 4, Antman 3, nor any other of the tv shows but Echo but I dont think those are really relevant for a Avengers movie.

Phase 6 is F4 which i didn't see then the new Spiderman so IDK. For shows only seen Wonderman but he wont be in this.

Honestly I am willing to bet as long as you have passing knowledge on this shit you will be fine. They know people are not going to catch up to this point anymore unless this piques their interest so it will be very accessible.

This looks like it could be great, it also looks like it could be a bloated cluster fuck of a mess.
Chances of me seeing this in the theatre...
...rising.

huh i felt nothing, it was cool seeing all those characters i guess but it felt like a south park member-berries joke. worked great in End Game, a bit less in last Strange movie, and I think deadpool 3 kinda buried it for me.

i hope doomsday is good but zero interest or faith in the movie right now, especially since the trailer is doing nothing about Doom himself. I guess it makes more sense to tease all the heroes you'll see again for normies but that is doing nothing for me.

I'm no expert, let alone have a shelf full of Funko pops, but the Loki series was actually pretty entertaining. Enjoyed it just because it was just so radically different than everything else they put out, and Hiddleston just makes it a great character. You might be safe with just watching that series and I don't know about anything else really.

I'm guessing maybe the fantastic four movie but whatever. Possibly the Spider-Man and Doctor Strange stuff?

I have watched all the Spider Man movies because I think they are at least decent and a good actual popcorn flicks....but are we still at the point in the MCU that the multi-dimensional stuff was all caused by Spidey messing up Dr. Strange's spell to make everyone forget his name?

They're not bad movies, and the only reason I had watched them is because we got Disney Plus for free for a bit through Verizon. The new Doctor Strange movie was so-so, or maybe just very forgettable.

I watched that Thunderbolts movie and it was the same, not bad but I don't really remember much from it.

I do think the Loki series is probably my favorite stuff that came out of this current generation of films and shows. The ending is pretty great.

But things like the Oriental rings movie and any of the girl boss stuff, or either the Black panther movies, yeah that's never going on the watch list. I figured you can pick up enough background information through simple osmosis.

Thor and the X-men look good. The scene at the end with Cap was a good callback - not sure if all these B and C squads can get it done here.

Really? Watching that reminds me of a good TV show that's dragged on way too long. It's on season 8 and all the good characters are either gone or Flanderized, and they just kind of lost the plot. It a lot of "member-berries" where they just show you a bunch of characters to try to build excitement.

It's sad, because I saw your post and thought "well maybe this will get me excited to watch it" like the Infinity War stuff did (I barely paid attention to Marvel and then we went back and watched most of them before Endgame). But it really had the opposite reaction. I don't really care to see this at all based on that trailer. I probably won't even bother to pirate it.

Edit: Kind of spronk spronk 's post.

Cyclops, Prof X/Magneto in their last movie together, and Cap at the very end is enough for me to go watch it. I don't think it is going to be even half the movie that Endgame was, but as long as it is as entertaining as a Spider Man movie than I am in.

I haven't watched any of their made for TV crap. I try to watch an episode and get put right to sleep. I do watch people make fun of them like when they turned Loki into a transformer. But never really get any plot continuity.

The X-Men footage still looks like shit, and the green screen backgrounds look like shit. If they are not green screen, and are high-definition screen/projections, they are lighting things wrong and it looks obvious. However, I hate the over reliance on cgi for everything and the digital recolouring. The movie itself looks like it has potential but in my opinion the effects have taken a step back from Dr. Strange. I have constant uncanny valley from too many movies these days because of the digital enhancements and after-effects. Maybe it's an autism/retard thing, I dunno.

Odd thing is, though, I want this to be good. I want this to be Great. Usually I want these movies to be terrible but I want this to be fantastic.
I want to want to see this in the theatre.

Disney is not in the business of making stuff for grumpy old men. Unfortunately they kill all of the grumpy old men IPs they touch. They just aren't capable. Between the DEI hire writers and directors and the out of touch casting decisions, yeah good luck.

Russos went out with a bang. I have faith in them for this. Plus, full on X-Men. Just seeing that Cyclops may finally get his due is awesome imo. Also Classic Mystique look and Gambit returning.

The problem I have with these movies is that nothing is really ever on the line. There are no stakes, no repercussions, no real danger. Mix in time travel and multiverse and the problem compounds. Sure, Black Widow, Vision, and Stark died, but Stark is coming back as Dr Droom. Sure, he's not the Tony Stark, but he is Tony Stark. The only reason SJ isn't coming back as BW is because of the lawsuit and burned bridges.

This isn't going to be anything other than a loud, bangy crass money grab.

Part of the journey is the end. <-Not in the MCU.

He isn't Tony Stark. He's Victor Von Doom, but looks like Tony. Also SJ has no beef with Disney as she is doing Tower of Terror with them right now and working on a Blond Phantoms project for them.

Not only is "nothing on the line" but we don't have any sense of what the threat really is. All we have is Thor's monologue about how this scares him more than anything in the past. Yes, multiverse incursions are scary but we've seen it a dozen times already in Loki, What If, Strange 2, and everything else post-IW. I really hope this is good but they're going to have to generate all the tension within this one movie rather than building up Thanos over years.
