Watched the first 2 episodes. Another good apple tv series. Their shows have the best cinematography. They're trying a little too hard to make every dialogue funny but it's still mostly good. I'm not interested yet in the murder mystery part of it because the characters are unserious.

Just watched the first episode tonight and enjoyed it as well. It’s a little absurd which makes it entertaining.

downloaded this but first episode didn't hold my attention. I don't think I really gave it a chance as I was reaching for my phone fairly quickly - is that my fault or the fault of the show? Regardless I've been a bit distracted lately

The scenes with Vaughn and his friends are entertaining. I'm bored by the scenes involving the caribbeans and the monkey but they're short and obviously have an important role so I power through them.

4th episode had 1 minute or less of the black characters. There's no more mystery for us the viewers thanks to the style of narration they chose. The story is moving fast. I like the interactions between the characters more than the story which is rare.

Only 2 ep in but it's good. Better than most of the junk out there. Get's the "worth watching" label for me so far. The writing was suspiciously good for 2024, so I checked and sure enough it's based on a book by a decent writer. That bodes well.

This is more VV's speed than some of the other stuff he's done lately, so it seems a little like a return to form for him, but... he still lacks a little bit of the energy/vitality he had with his younger roles. I mean, tbf the guy isn't as young as he used to be. I feel like if he picked up a cocaine habit it would really do wonders for his career.

I thought he was a great addition to Curb - but I am really enjoying this show

Yeah, after posting that I went back and watched Swingers. He's definitely got a lot more energy/magnetism/whatever in that and even some others from the 2000s, like Wedding Crashers. But that a long time ago, so I'm probably being a little harsh on the guy.

Anyway, he's a perfect fit for the role in Bad Monkey, which is pretty good so far.

yeah he has reputation of ab-libbing in everything, which is why so many of his characters are so similar in how they are and I am sure that aging has taken that energy down on him in real life. But yeah he is the best part of this show and I am really enjoying it. I assumed the book was a part of a series based on his character but apparently it is a stand alone - not sure if that is good or bad in regards to a second season - both chance of one and how it will go if they do make one.

well I liked it - I did not expect any of the major events of the last episode either. Didn't really notice any cliches or tropes either

Really liked it. Amazing what happens when you have a real writer. They did a great job casting it too. Felt like it kept getting better each episode. Looking forward to S2!

so he never wrote a sequel to the book it was based on but it definitely was left with an opening for S2 and I definitely hope they make it (and hopefully they bring the author in for the story cause that was a good one

I think Razor Girl is the next Yancy book after Bad Monkey but I could be wrong. Afaik those are the only two books featuring Yancy- so far.
