Both Halsin and Wyll came onto my male character without EVER giving them one iota of a hint that I was interested in romance. Why are almost all the characters in the game so horny?

I assume that all the romance shit in this game was written by women or effeminate gays (or maybe there are no rules for who hits on who, for the gays). Since straight men hardly ever get hit on, they don't have the experience of "aggressive" or "horny" men/women coming on strong, and that's why it is so immersion breaking and irritating for us. Even straight women, when they do rarely hit on men, do it in a different way.

For women and gays, on the other hand, that's how "romantic" relationships are, so it just seems normal for them.

Even The Emperor got spicey at one point. And I was like, 'and now you!?'

Gays hit on people/ask other people if they're gay because it's the only way to reliably figure out whether someone else is into dick IRL (or going on a dating website, but there's no Internet in Faerûn.) Gaydar does exist, but it's (a) only marginally better than a coin flip for people who aren't Liberace levels of flaming (like 60/40 accuracy) and (b) kind of like job interview skills, something you only develop with a lot of observation and practice.

I can see why it's immersion breaking/awkward, and I do think they could have done a better job at flagging the flirt options (kinda like they did in post-Dragon Age II Bioware games).

My understanding is that most of the male relationship values, especially Gale's, were bugged, and that led to them coming on to people earlier than intended. I haven't replayed the game since the patches, so I don't know how much things have improved, but IMO Gale was way too forward. Halsin was my favorite (supposedly the favorite of most gays on Reddit as well), and he didn't start hitting on me until midway through Act III.

I think you left out posting an easy to find AD twitter and just slapping your porn pics all over it. Gays can definitely be super forward if they are in an environment where they think they can get away with it. That said it is weird and comes off like that to people who aren't putting themselves in or fantasizing about those situations.... which will be the large majority of their players.

I slap the no button on romance for everyone. I don't care about that crap in these games. But if the gay scenes are the player char getting plowed by npcs, wouldn't be surprised if there was a thirsty gay involved in writing the sex scenes being so forward.

If the bard is playing Linda Ronstadt it’s a dead giveaway.

Well, if it’s a bard it’s pretty much a sure thing.

I absolutely love BG3, but sometimes I wish for more combat and less story.

Does there exist a game that has the turned based combat of BG3 but focuses on, say, dungeon exploration? Sort of like a BG3 + Darkest Dungeon style game. Create a party of characters, explore dungeons or whatever, get loot up, level up.

Solasta has similar combat. More combat, less story, but still story. Certainly not as polished as BG3 though. But as he says in the review. The story is decent, but the focus is building of characters for the combat.

King Arthur - Knights Tale just had a 2.0 massive patch update. That's more combat as well, but plays more like fantasy Xcom than BG3. Build up Camelot and do missions around the map. Story is delivered through small dialogue in the missions.

(this review is from the base game, they've added a lot of stuff now since he said that it lacked content for full price. + It's on sale now as well)

D:OS 1 & 2 to a degree does, bonus points is both of those & BG3 can be modded to either have more mobs, or mobs respawn on short/long rest type things.

Here is one that has combat in spades, like 200+ hours of it... I never finished it, lol.

Both Owlcat Pathfinder games. They even have the option of going Real-Time Turn-based for trash fights.

Owlcat games are riddled with reams and reams of lore and story. The first one, kingmaker, was not as bad as wrath, but still. I quit wrath because I just could not take the dialogue and story BS anymore.

I think Kingmaker has DLC that's just a procedural dungeon with the option to just do that divorced from the rest of the game or story. You just roll up some characters and head in to the grinder.

Wrath had something like this too if im remembering correct. But I think its meant for high level characters though.

wasteland 1,2,3 might be what he's looking for as well. although, I suppose its not really a dungeon crawl either.

to keep up with the Mortismal linking.

there are dungeon crawls, which names are largely escaping me atm. tower of time, blackgaurds, ..
