Played a little with arcane archer. Seems like it is very very good early on. Banishment at lvl 3 and you can do it twice per turn.

Rapidly drops off around lvl 6-7 though.

Cut off Gales hand. Kind of wish I had a wizard now for the upcoming shadow invasion defending the portal. Of course my party is not AOE built at all. 2 fighters, a berserker, and Shart who can only cover so much ground with spirit guardians. Obviously I had no plan this run and just winged it, winged myself into a corner or getting a hireling. Up until now on honor mode it was kinda ez mode. Until now, and I imagine Ketherick was gonna suck too.

I had shadow heart use her aoe damage aura thing and stand right in the way. All those little 1hp clowns just kept running through her and dying.

That's what I normally do but I really need to level some. Best kills is overkill. Lined up some smokepoder bombs on the side they mostly come from. Invis arcane archer set them off with a wall of fire scroll. The other side was easy pickings with giant barb. I only took those two.

It's kind of satisfying in an overkill kind of way. When you set off the wall of fire and bombs you get some much death spam it takes a second for the computer to catch up, at least mine did.

Companion chat/talk needs some real things. "Are we lost, pretty sure we have been this way before?", "Smooth move dropping your weapon and not noticing".

Where Raphael appears as you try and exit the House of Hope, I had a friend pack that area with an excessive number of smokepowder barrels -- all long the walls next to the pillars too. He set those things off in a chain reaction and killed everything. Hilarious.

That works - globe of invuln + runepowder bomb also clears the room pretty fast

Best part of that fight is if you fuck Harlep and they let you ask them any question, if you select the "is Raphael any good in bed?" one, you get a bonus dialogue before fighting Raphael where he says "killing you will only take a moment" and you can reply "that's twice as long as harlep says you last in bed" and Raphael gets giga pissed lol

I can't believe how long act 3 is. A lot of it feels like filler quests unfortunately. I haven't even left lower city yet. I just killed the hag finally and saved the kid. Still got other shit to do here

Was going to give this game a go but I'm not about to pay full price for a 2 year old game. Anyone know a place that sells it discounted? If not I'll just wait for a Steam sale and get it then.

I'm of the opinion that act 3 should have been broken in two. I didn't not play early acess and to me it seems like they had a lot of content and they had to make sure it all "got in".

On explosive stuff I've never really used them, steal a bucnh from goblin camp normally and pick up all I can so now I'm looking to use it some place.

I mean, of all the games out there this one deserves to still be full price. I'm at 100 hours and I don't think we're even close to the end yet. I can't remember another game being this good since elden ring for me.

Yeah I agree with this. I mean I haven't spoiled the end so I really don't know how much is left but I imagine there's still the upper city.

Yea I hear the praises. I might just get it at full price, I do understand they deserve it. Just used to old stuff being a bit cheaper.

Act 3 is so long and you hit max level at the end of act 2.

It seems like they meant to move the level cap higher but couldn't get the power balance right. So they pegged everything at 12 to not trivialize the end game.

I wouldn't be shocked if you don't see a major sale until around the time Larian announces their next big game or the really big custom mod maps hit the internet

We did some less murder hobo stuff in act 2 so didn't hit 12 until early act 3, but yeah it's kind of a downshift. No carrot anymore

You sure about that? I've never hit 12 in Act 2. I'm usually hitting 10 somewhere in the Mindflayer Colony, which is right before the final Ketheric fight.

I've done a number of runs, some I poke around and do quest after quest and I'm not sure I hit 12 in act two but if you watch some bg3 challange runners they do a lot of goofy rule sets so they over level and not unusual for someone to be lvl 9 in act 1.

I only have moonrise left on my current playthrough and I'm halfway into lvl 5. It varies depending on how much "other" stuff I do. I often skip the tower in the underdark and the fish people and other things.

You have to go full autist to hit max level by the end of act 2. You have to get basically every last sliver of xp available to do it. Every last inspiration on every character type of stuff. The chances Bald Bruh did it are basically 0.

Okay 11 and a half? My last playthrough was dark urge so I was killing everyone. You're definitely going to be max level in rivington long before you enter the city proper. But I'm pretty sure being a murder hobo you can hit it at the end of act 2. Killing all the gobbos and druids, killing the whole githyanki base, killing all the duregar and mushroom people, etc. But only after completing all the quest lines.
