Lot of loot but some stuff there is competition for best in slot. Gotta have the best right? I started a new honor mod run and finished act 2 and realized shadowheart didn't have a single ring on. Oh well. By act 3 there is a ginormous amount of equipment though.

Even on custom (multi-save) "honor" difficulty, the game through chapter 1 and almost to the end of chapter 2 has been pretty easy (no barrel-mancing). So if 2 specs share some items, I don't necessarily need every character to be BiS. I just like to feel like I am utilizing as much loot as possible.

Definitely not the case with shifters in Pathfinder, you lose your armor slot and thats it.
Yeah, maybe so. I vaguely remember using a shapeshifting druid for one playthrough of Kingmaker. Don't remember it being that good though, as in shifting was far outclassed by casting by level 10, or maybe because it's a weak class is multi with to try to make a good melee druid for Unfair. In Wrath, on the other hand, I used Brownfur to make all melee into dragon/drakes and it worked great on a max buff playthrough (cleric/angel). I thought that was more due to the dragon spell line, not shifting in general.

Druid is more of a 'hey look im a full progression caster who has a solid backup melee option that doesn't require setup to switch to' and it's less valuable in a crpg where you get to rest much more often than you do in tabletop. Sort of the marathon runner of casters.

My wife played a shape shifting druid in our bg3 run and it was absurdly good. She barely ever got knocked down to 0 up, which then puts you back in human form, only to immediately shapeshift again. By the end I think she could do that 2 or 3 times. The owlbear was silly

Moon Druid is a solidly middle of the road spec. In large part due to items not working with shapeshifting means that a bunch of other specs are stronger. Not only due to the amount of items in this game but also due to how a bunch of items synergize together.

Yeah the game is really tuned so that any class/subclass can finish the game. Was a joke about having to have best in slot. Seems skewed to 2handers early on and by 3rd act you are overflowing with short swords at least for melee. Of course you can get a great longsword early in act 1 if you skip ahead to it from the under dark.

Yeah I mean she wasn't minmaxing and she's not an rpg gamer, so it actually worked out really well for us. It was essentially the spec where she didn't really have to worry about what she was doing and just bash enemies (or jump and flatten them).

It helped I was a sword bard shooting like 27 times a turn.

A single engineer spent his own time working on a proof of concept for a Steam Deck native version of BG3. He got far enough that they took it on as a project, and released something.

I don't have a Deck, but this is pretty cool.

Yah, I know. I had to download the 13 gig update the other day. Had to go and check on, "WTF is this, I thought they were done updating this game?" Because, ya know, I had the time.

I find most cRPGs are just really shitty to play on steamdeck. As the menus work far less efficiently than with a mouse and keyboard.

Larian was already at the edge of tolerable woke bullshit with BG3 because you could just mod it out of the game but this has CD Project Red way of life written all over it. Larian's next game will be utter woke shit. Just like CD's Witcher 4. Larian CEO said that he probably only has 1 game left in him anyway. Sad way to ruin your legacy this way.

You guys worry too much about DEI stuff sometimes. They put out an insanely good game despite that

I had no clue they did that. As long as things are not shoved in my face(aka its optional) and it doesn't increase the price of the game, do what you want to try to get more people buying your game. This game was amazing and well worth the money.
