If douchebag wizards of the coast are involved its guaranteed shite.
I dont care if its the game or the show, anything related to Last of Us is tainted from the get-go. I dont follow shit like developers and producers, but its not a ringing endorsement when I hear that series name.

WOTC owns the IP, so that is probably why Larian has no input on the show.

As for Last of Us, they adapted a game which had that shit to begin with.
Season 1 where Nick Offerman went full retard as a codependent, open faggot that suicides was not in TLOU1. That was Druckmann further retconning an IP he's repeatedly ass raped. Try again.

And Druckman has 0 involvement with BG3. Mazin, the other half of the showrunner combo for the TLOU show, was responsible for the Chernobyl mini-series (which was excellent).

Basically whether this BG3 show will be any good will probably come down to how much WOTC fucks around with the creative process to its detriment. The D&D movie turned out pretty good, so if the BG3 show at least somewhat matches that movie, then I'll be satisfied.

I have 50 hours in this and haven’t made it passed act one. I should really get into it and do a complete run and start over.

I'm currently in an Honor Mode run with 3 friends, it's been going on for a while now as 1 of my fried slipped in reel life and broke his ankle which put the campaign on hold for about 3 months.

We restarted a few weeks ago. It's a blast, we basically have our dumb ugly barbarian be the face of the group and we're getting some hilarious results.

The game is way easier now with the new classes than when the game came out, we're having an easier time in honor mode than I had in normal when the game came out, nothing has truly challenged us so far and we're about to finish Act 2.

What are the new classes? I haven't kept up with any updates.

Each class got a new subclass in patch 8. All classes can finish the game even on solo hardcore "if" you know a enough about the game and all the encounters. I'd have to look up what was new and what was already in the game. Lot you can do especially if you multiclass.I mean people even finish the game on hardcore solo with trickster cleric. No thanks. Cleric is definetly a good class that can be very good and does a lot of stuff, not just healing if they use healing at all.

I personally think Eldrich Knight is probably the easiest and quickest to just go through the game. I think at first people thought it would be a casting fighter. Not really. You get some utility spells which help a ton like shield. Booming blade is too good to pass up. Do good damage, if the target moves they take even more damage, being a cantrip and not requiring a spell slot helps. I think EK can get up to 11 attacks per round being a fighter, using the right elixir and feats. All while still being a fighter and can throw up shield when needed. AC is not really the end all/be all that it used to be in DnD. I watched a streamer finish hardcore solo with 0 AC the other day. Lot of damage reduction on items.

Giant barb is powerful and fun. Throw weapons that return, you can buff after a certain level to do various damage/elemental types. Then just cause you can pick up and throw medium size enemies and use them as weapons against each other or off into a chasm.

I play the game a good bit. Having said that I expect lierally nothing out of a show. Good chance a fair number of those involved latched onto the popularity and wouldn't normally touch this game or any game with a 10 foot pole. And especially not read something involving DnD.

Someone broke their ankle and could no longer sit in a chair to play video games?

Reminds me of a guy I knew in highschool that was part of my everquest crew. He was a huge ass land whale, so I'd drop in at his house and be like want to go play racquetball or some other sport. Every single time he'd grab his bag and say "Sorry, had plans to go to the gym now" and then drive off.

I don't think one absurdly over-designed campaign that's capped at lvl 12 is really something to judge that by.
Yep. One thing BG3 does that I wish was more standard in RPGs is very gameplay-impacting itemization. The entire time I played I would find items that provided meager stats but had weird effects I knew would transform the item from mid-tier to build-making if I found other similar stats that supported it. The DnD ruleset was just the stage they built BG3 on, and the items were the instruments the players used to create a symphony.

It almost makes me want to see a game built where there literally aren't any stats on gear and instead everything is an effect. The player would grow not through +1 increments but finding more synergistic items throughout the game.

You could always throw one of these mods on and give a new playthrough:

I have this one in almost all my runs just for a little more combat:
