Well that sucked. Going to the Blood of Lethander. I had 14 bonus on the roll and the DC was 14. The the dawn things that punt you off into the chasm. Oh yeah, rolled a one.
I enjoy playing punishing games but a turn-based game built on lethal failures from literal dice roles having a hardcore difficulty mode is the gaming equivalent of pickle and jelly sandwiches.

However, much like a pickle and jelly sandwich I enjoy laughing at someone eating it. Please keep us up to date.

Have you ever had a peanut butter and pickle sandwich? Not joking, it’s actually good.

One slice of bread, peanut butter, dill pickle in the middle and wrap up like a hotdog.

Dice roll and being lazy on my part. I could have posistioned myself better to not get thrown into the casm. I thought I had it easily with my bonus, not to mention I had advantage. So basically I rolled two 1s to fail it and no inspiration which I know now that's a spot to make sure I have one or more. And you only get a perma death you can't fix by reloading if you are on honor mode. Also when you lose honor mode you can keep playing it just doesn't count as finishing honor mode. Gives you the option to continue in cusom mode with honor mode rules or whatever, it is called dishonored mode.

Or I had not been playing solo.

Anyway Solasta 2 is available on steam for early acess now. Also the modules for 1 are on sale if anything has done Solasta.

I mean, you can re-roll, unless you blew all your inspirations.

Or just have another part member rez you at withers, but I was playing solo.I mean I was playing extra hard on hard mode. Just stuck out having +14 on a 14 DC roll with inspiration. That's what makes it hard mode I guess lol.

Still haven't finished this game because I get busy for weeks then have to re-learn what the fuck I'm doing, but still having a hoot finding new stuff. So I'm in Act 2, find the Gloves of the Balanced Hands, the Risky Ring, the Render of Mind and Body sword and one that improves chance to crit. I give 'em all to Astarion thinking in theory he'll always be attacking now with advantage, and thus in theory always triggering the 1-8 psychic bonus damage from the sword.

I jogged over to the nurse at the House of Healing hoping to test what damage he can do combined with the off-hand balanced hands gloves damage bonus.

lol, 1 hit 1 kill, didn't even get a chance to use his off-hand attack(s) ! And this is just with a +1 sword, I'm already seeing +2 stuff.
I might just haste him, go afk, and he can call me when he's done killing everyone...

Once you get the hang of it the game has a lot of replay which is pretty unusual for a lot of these type of games. I am playing dishonored now continuing my play through my honor mode lost. I'm normally a walk up and beat the crap out of NPCs type. But working on abusing the invis dark urge mechanic. It is nice to kill a boss and the other stuff taking zero damage, stealth, ambush/surprise attack, an extra shot, kill, invis and walk around and repeat. A little slower but interesting.

Spoilers.

Not a fan of Myrkul, it's really a gut check on hardcore duo runs.

On a lighter note I have found the easiest build for one particuler fight, Gloomstalker/Assasin, Duegar on the toll collector. Sneak in with pass without trace on. You can kill all the stuff the reduces the toll collector health in one shot and invis up for killing something. Never even move and nobody can find/see you. Then the toll collector gets down to 7hp for an easy one shot kill lol. Kinda entertaing but limited. I just started off shooting and skipped the dialog. Somewhat enteraining to see all the stuff including the toll collector wander around and right by/through you and never notice.

I've mentioned this before, but I have over 2000 hours played at this point -- and still discovering new things. Have completed the game over a dozen times. Doing a Shadowheart origin playthrough right now -- first time doing an origin run besides the Durge. Also, the Chocolate mod is pretty cool. Highly recommend it.

Spoiler

I did Merkul in a duo, me and shadowheart. We used a LOT of scrolls I had picked up. Shadow put down blindness and I did a few times with arrows of darkness. Hunger of hadar scroll. A bomb or two. She ran around with spirit guardians killing the necromites and I did some with arrow of many targets.

Extremely close. I had like 40 hp and Merkul had 7 and shadowheart killed it/her with a bow shot.

Mentioning things you never saw. If you don't release the tieflings in moonrise prison, then kill all the stuff on the main floor of moonrise and go to the prison. It's full of necromites and a few NPCs and one death guardian. Probalby 20ish total. That was new to me.

lol, so I listen to Shadowheart whine about stuff so she's "easily swayed" by me with high approval, I get to the Nightsong and say, "Hey, maybe don't be a zombie slave for Shar, cut your own path." and of course Shadow turns around and screams "HOW DARE YOU, FIGHT ME TO THE DEATH!."

So I reload and say, "Whatever bitch, have at it." and the Nightsong says, "You don't know me, and I didn't listen to you whine for hours to get your approval high like your party members, but I also know you're scared of wolves. How about you don't kill me, abandon your god and cut your own path ?"

Long ago when I didn't play harcore mode I had shadownheart and Karlach. I let Shadow go shar and kill nighsong. Oops. Goodby all of last light inn with destruction of the light sphere around it, which meant no more Damon for Karlach. I think I quit that run through shortly after.

I was dark urge and was gonna go Bhall and lost interest.

Just up until I quite. Gale, Minthara, Jaheria, Minsc, Halsin, and who knows who else. Not that I was looking for a full party. I just send them to camp. But it does lower the exp, but you still end up max but it cuts down on content and items.
