After you get through with a party try solo honor on dark urge. In some ways it's harder, easier in others. You don't have to worry about killing someone that is a potentential party member or taking care of their story. Plus early on you kill them and take the gear they are wearing. Lvl 7 dark urge gloomstalker solo honor mode currently. Starting to slow down. Made it to 5 with almost no combat and now going back and picking up stuff now that I am over leveled. Once I figured out how to skip the grove fight at the very start making a new run got easier and faster if I died.

We'll see how far I get. I am playing 3,1,2 in that order of the series.

I want to rob everyone like I did in my last run but even with Thief Astarion and the various sleight of hand buffs I don't want to risk it other than against the really safe NPCs to rob. I am running some mods so no golden dice for me. Not that i really care.

I did not look info the math but it's funny when you steal stuff and the DC is -3. All low value like arrows but still funny. Also for some reason Aaaron in the grove wound up with 4k gold and I would need like a 30 to steal it. Not sure how that happened. So back to Volo.

Playing on Honor mode for the first time. It is actually really refreshing having to just roll with it and there is new stuff I didn't see coming. I have never finished a Dark Urge run so trying that out and it's more lol this way. I did not expect the double owlbear encounter and survived by the skin of my teeth.

Its a bit more forgiving than I expected tbh. You can use res scrolls all you want, and Withers. I will definitely avoid some of the major fights if I can though. Nearing the end of Act 1. Running Dark Urge Sorcerer, Thief Astarion, Arcane Archer Lae'Zel, and Life Cleric Shadowheart.

I've had to figure out how to use stuff I never bothered with before. It's been great.
I see a lot of different choices for shadowheart. I played with her on some other duo runs and did nature and tempest. Never did life. Interesting.

I am about as far as I can go now. Merkul now and I'm not sure I'm up to that solo. I held the "cheese" I used to a minimum. I didn't barrelmancy any other than shooting a barrel that was in the hideout after I put down a cat and pushed, then shot it with a fire arrow. So I could get the titanstring bow for free. I had the gold but did it anyway. Possibly could have got it another way. Did not have pass without trace yet.

I learned a lot about what conversation type rolls to prepare for, which is a lot considering rangers get no proficency in any of them.

Grym I just threw stuff. I had failed to pick up much stuff but I went to the few vendors and just stole a lot of stuff since the DC was negative. Took a few rest to reset them. Next time I'll pick up most junk along the way.

Arcane Archer is really strong. The banishment arrow is super helpful. I think I just need a few items to really make the class shine. Specifically that Titanstring bow. As I am running on Honor mode I am fighting like a total little bitch and keeping as much distance as possible.

This is really easy with Storm Sorcerer because every time you cast a spell you get a bonus action of flying around. I am going Life Cleric because I need every bit of support I can find. I don't really like reclassing companions to something that doesn't suit them. I hate making Shadowheart into a bard or something. But any flavor of Cleric is fine, trickery is just an annoying cleric subset and I've tried a lot to make it better but it's still just shitty.

My goal is to go around setting up the stage for the lightning bolt/wet/electrified wombo combo and avoiding fights when I can.

The healing you gain making Shadowheart a Life Cleric doesn't even come close to the how helpful she is as a Light Cleric instead. The offensive power helps finish the fights so much faster, that you won't need the extra healing she gets. You're much better off with Warding Flare, Fireball, and Scorching Ray.

I like this build: Light Domain Cleric Build - Lightbearer | Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3)
Agree with this. She was useful enough healing but I felt she was much more useful when she went offensive.

My own personal build for Gale (although anyone will do) is 2 storm sorc, 2 div wizard, 8 life cleric. He can twin haste two members then immediately sanctuary himself. Ultimate support character.

Being solo and dumb strikes again. I was going to have karniss take me to moonrise. I sided with the karniss against the harpers because I knew I couldn't take him down at lvl 5 solo. I made it to moonrise and got moonlantern from Balthazar room. It sucks. The only way I can get places is enhanced leap and stay out of the deep shadows. I haven't been able to make it to last light. You play and learn I guess. Half tempted to revive shadowheart and make her go from moonrise to last light and maybe grab another waypoint.

It was nice throwing everyone in grymforge into the bay/abyss so it was just me and Nere, and finished him in one round. Grym went easy so onward I went lol to be stuck.

When I group and use shadowheart I go with tempest or nature, nature using spike growth and letting me pick stuff off. Tempest works nice being able to move your dps each turn.

I am being way more lax with my completionist tendencies. I try to do everything then get bored and not move on. So I will be skipping various extra bosses like the Grymforge Golem, Spider Matriarch, and so on. I need to knockout my queen Minthara then help the tieflings.

I did some stuff I never tried before though. I found a way to sneak into the Zhent treasure room behind Roah via the rafters. As much as I love pickpocketing I have to be really careful about doing it. Even with Astarion pimped out to be a pickpocketing machine. Once I go down to the Underdark and get the invisibility ring/hat it might be easier. I don't want to do that Duergar fight with the undead he raises until I get counterspell.

It's a totally different game playing on honor. I dig it. Even if it is all in my head.

That's how I used Gale with my two barbarians. Him casting haste on two monsters and then fucking off and not dying is strangely the most powerful move.

I like to get use misty step either from a spell or amulet to get into the trasure/chest room behind Dror Ragzlin after first getting to the goblin camp. The cash is nice early on and especially if you don't use Volo as an ATM. Misty step in, loot, teleport out to where ever.

Another easy way is to shoot an arrow of darkness around the door. Lock pick it, take the loot then immediately go to camp.

Yeah but when I'm solo on honor I'm tryingt to not use any inspiration because that is the most valuable thing in a lot of spots. Also my thieving skills aren't really that high then. I take that money and go to the hideout and buy thieving gloves and kill them to get the titan bow without having to use a lot of gold. I go there right off. Disguised self as a drow, walk there to get in past a couple of checks. Sneak past the left side. Step in and get the stuff, go get thieving gloves and titan sring, then come back and walk in and free Volo.

That's the nice thing about BG3 tons of ways to go about anything. By lvl 5 I can take out Drror solo in one round and then the rest of the stuff is easy plinking with insta invis each kill while on the rafters.

EDIT - abondonded my honor mode gloomstalker that got trapped in moonrise. I may go with an arcane archer after someone mentioned it. Trying to decide if go solo or duo/group. Went Laezel since I've never done her/origin. This may suck.
