I need to drop all of my mods sometime and do that. I've been playing on my macbook out of laziness which doesn't have the mod that lets you get achieves while running them. Oh well!

I remain stunned at the amount of interactions in this game. In my current run I have Minthara but I knocked her ass out in the Goblin camp then went about my day. When we killed Ketheric she got on my case about why I knocked her out instead of killing her and I was just.... well yeah its because I wanted to get in your pants.

I am just starting my first play through on PS5. I am a chick lizard monk. Always wanted to play a D&D monk, the first two choice not sure.

You need see Minthara's Act 1 sex scene if you haven't. Great googly moogly...
Yeah, she is a really well done evil character with interesting complexity. She really reflects the Drow kind of evil. Shame they lock it behind the Goblin Camp because doing that locks you out of a lot of other quest lines and the evil side doesn't make up for it. So if you do that you need to just go all in on murder hobo shenanigans IMO.

I also don't really understand why the Resonance Stone exists. It isn't even really abusing an exploit but just holding the thing and using Shadow Blade (that any class can use with the ring if you find it or multiple classes can just summon it) or a few other weapons lets you blow up any humanoid enemy. I appreciate that they made it mildly more difficult to kill certain enemies like Steel Watchers on Honor/Tactician.

For all of its strengths I dislike that certain fights seem to just expect you to use globe of invulnerability or you straight die and have no other way to avoid massive damage.

This hasn't been true for a while now. You can burn the goblin camp to the ground and still recruit her as long as you don't specifically murder her in combat.

She's probably the best companion overall.

Finally decided to try Honour Mode, it was much easier than my tactician run.

Just started up a new Custom Run with Honour Mode settings (except for multiple save files) so I can try the 5.5e settings: DnD 5.5e All-in-One BEYOND for Baldur's Gate 3 - mod.io

Is the 5.5 update that big of a change? I don't follow current DnD rules at all, but am looking starting a new playthrough and can't really tell if I should bother with this.

Yes I know you can knock her unconscious but most players wouldn't stumble on that naturally is all I am saying.

I bailed on it within 4-6 hours. The changes felt awful to me.

I was a tabletop player back in 2nd edition thru 3.5. The adapted ruleset for BG3 was fine, but this interpretation of the rules just didn't click with me. The developer also put in a bunch of homebrew rules as well. He also started updating it again about a month ago, so things change sometimes daily.

I heard good things about BG3 - Chocolate Edition for Baldur's Gate 3 - mod.io but I'm not sure I care to do another overhaul mod now.

They changed it recently-ish so that is the default behavior now - you have to specifically go out of your way to permakill her now once she goes down in combat by like forcing lethal mode and targeting her body.

I’ve played 3 campaigns in the last month and that’s never been the default for me. I just straight murked her. I’d have to toggle knockouts on to not kill her.

I don’t know... they added a bunch of weird stuff. "Finger guns" and a ton of other new cantrips that feel overwhelming. I’m specifically talking about the BG3 mod. It’s cool in concept, but none of it meshes well with the existing content. You end up way overpowered, and since the base game isn’t very difficult anyway, it often feels pointless.

It's buggy for sure - I think as a general rule, blunt force stuff will render her KO, but anything sharp or magical nuke will kill her

It's not buggy. You just need to turn on non-lethal mode and perform a regular weapon attack. No spells nor special attacks. I simply widdle her down to just a few hps, turn on non-lethal, and snack her with a basic weapon attack. Easy.
