It's much easier with endgame buildings but the only one I had built when I got it was the one that gives you some free rerolls so it's very possible to get it with just luck. Also this is a pretty funny double-evo fusion.

Speaking of overpowered fusions - give Black Hole Sun a try - I am assuming that's an intentional reference ;p ( Fire + Light -> Sun + Dark -> Blackhole )

Overgrowth + any AOE is also pretty absurd, I am reasonably sure there's a bug in there somewhere in the calculations.

Nosferatu + any explosion is also pretty good, although Nosferatu is such a pain in the ass that I can rarely get it online before the run is effectively over.

For the ease of making it, I think Overgrowth is the most busted. It triggers on any AE, including things like the blind skills that hit the entire map. Fused with sun it triggers constantly across every mob + sets them on fire.

I actually think black hole is pretty awful compared to the other advanced evos, and probably worse htan just using sun much less sun fused with any number of other options. Nuke fills basically the same niche but does a big old aoe of heavy damage instead of a single target instant kill.

It is, but black hole sun is a fusion of black hole and sun, which is a *very* different beast. Give it a try ;p

Satan is pretty wild, constantly applies burn and berserk to the entire field while it's out.

hooooooooly shit lmfao. feel like black hole flash and black hole flicker would do the same thing but that is crazy.

boss damage is terrible and the power loss when you first evolve black hole is pretty severe but the money generation is absolutely insane.

The game is fun but once you upgrade a bit everything becomes fairly trivial, it never feels like I have any difficulty winning a run even if I make poor combines on 3x speed. Is there a difficulty setting that I'm not finding somewhere or is this just meant to be a streamer game?

That tends to be the problem with Roguelite mechanics. finding the right balance of giving upgrades, while not trivializing the content.
The card battlers like Slay the spire/monster train tend to work better. as they give more cards, which can be more power.. but it also increases RNG. Challenges, etc also increase the difficultly.

classic arcade games were just fun, and didn't need it.

Leaderboards for high scores? maybe putting that back into the spotlight would help.

endless levels, see how far you can go, tetris, etc style.

Just keep pumping the speed until you fail. Trying weird combos of characters can also up the difficulty.

The upgrades come fast enough in normal game that it is never particularly difficult - unless you focus only on one map by the time you get up to fast+6 and higher you 'outgear' them by a lot - NG+ scales very quickly though.

Honestly the two automated characters might be the most technically impressive thing about the game. The only thing I found the autoplay character couldn't handle was being paired with the physicist.

Oh man, nuclear bomb fused with Cell is fun. Splits and keeps nuking so your mushroom clouds are going off constantly.

Just found this. Clever game. The town mini game using your character unlocks as harvesters made me laugh. Just now found the duo unlock, another clever thing. Def worth a buy.

its on gamepass if you have it, plays well on xbox but i get kinda bored after 2-3 runs. only unlocked 1 character so far so nowhere near any real progression i think, but yeah vampire survivors + arkanoid basically

This is nothing like vampire survivors, why would you make that comparison?

Anyways, keep playing. Game gets more interesting once you unlock the ability to have two characters at the same time.

auto attack, while you control movement, advancing horde. drops exp gems. gold. uses the same rng powerup system..

My criticisms for it are its not enough like breakout/arkanoid. not enough emphasis on catching/bouncing balls back. getting balls stuck on the top is actually often bad in this, as the enemies progress too quickly, and having your balls stuck in the back row, will often result in you taking damage.
the moment to moment gameplay could be a bit better.
Many powerups will actually totally brick your build as well. like the afore mentioned blackholexsun. Sun is very strong. but if you upgrade sun to black hole. black hole sucks balls. goes from powerful aoe hit, to 1 single target hit on a 7s cd. so there is a good chance of losing, if you upgrade to black hole too early. what you need to is have sun+dark, and then collect fire+light again. and not upgrade to black hole, until you are ready to replace the lost sun, with a new sun.
many fusions are like this. some are godly, some totally brick balls. overgrowth+flicker iirc is another op one. hits everything on screen, stacking overgrowth, which then kills everything on screen.

the item that makes your balls pass through until hitting the back wall can also screw you over as noted. Balls can go to the back row, get stuck there, and suddenly bosses are taking no damage, as new lines appear behind them.
at the same time most of the item powerups are kindof weak. balls are far more important and stronger choices.

end game replay. not quite there yet, but slowing down on unlocks, and the fun is fading. its not like a monster train roguelike, where every run is fun, and a challenge. I think there is too much linear progression here.

I don't think fusions, balls, or items actually being "wrong" choices is actually a totally bad thing. but, I would want the game to lean into that more then. Making ball, and item selection more tactical. like, a "vampire run" where you life steal, but then go melee, or tank all the enemies. current, doesn't REALLY lean into anything like that.
