I mean isn't that the tradeoff since weapons used to be gated behind specific classes?

I think I would rather play a class which has specific unlocked weapons from the start. Or, I dunno, make it fun and unlock everything from the get go and let people have fun on an even playing field. People would still buy the battlepass for cosmetics as shown in other successful battle pass revenue streams. Apex used to do it very well.

This though is basically just like the original Battlefront 2 loot crates except now it is with attachments. Smoke and mirrors to get back to they what they wanted in monetization and almost pay to win. I will laugh if we see 4x/5x XP boosts in the battle pass, and it will all definitely make sense what they did.

I wish we could mod the support defibrillator & engineer repair torch, so that's where my main gripes are.

"Guys, this is just modern gaming now! Force you to spend money just so that you can unlock everything in 1 hour! Can you imagine having to play the game?!"
My thought is "why do ya'll need to keep unlocking shit to want to keep playing a game?"

Back in my day we didn't unlock shit by playing games online, and we loved it!

Didnt it take a fuckload of time to unlock all the attachments/guns in BF3/4? And some were stuck behind stupid "shoot 50 guys while jerking off under a full moon" bullshit quests as I recall

So question on this one - in BF3 and 4 did the attachments increase a guns power level by 40-60% when fully unlocked?

I mean... its been years, which is why I was asking, as I recall the attachments made them useable... I dont recall about increasing their power

Copy - I can't remember either - I do know that in my limited time with my one gun I have leveled up now for hours, there is an IMMENSE power difference.

Point being is I think they are playing the shell game with P2W. A mixture of Battlefront 2 and what it was supposed to be with MTX and power which was reversed due to outcry, and Ubisoft nerfing XP in hopes people will purchase the XP pack to streamline the pacing back to what it should have been (As seen in Assassin's Creed games).

I have a feeling with the Battle pass here we will see gun leveling rewards, and XP rewards higher than 2x. IE: Gun unlocks completely, XP 4-10x for 30 minutes/60 minutes, shit like that - which would be fine if the attachments weren't being used as a main power overhaul for the guns themselves.

Most increases with these attachments you can see for yourself the raw power uptick. In which case, EA just hid the P2W behind a battle pass for quicker advancement or you are stuck playing Bot matches for 2 months to level the guns. Which they can take away at any time (Which may happen right around the time the Battlepass launches) and if that actually does happen, there should be a fucking hell to pay - as they just made Battlefield 6 a $70 mobile game.

The cognitive dissonance on these forums over the last five or so years has become sad. Ever since most of you officially entered your "boomerdom" era, it's like collective amnesia set in and turned into a full-blown epidemic. The way people rewrite history around here would make a Soviet propagandist blush. Bad Company 2 - you know, basically the 2nd or 3rd best FPS of all-time and the one everyone here genuflects to as the "last great shooter" before "the fall"? Well, it also had unlocks, my guy. Weapons, attachments, specializations, all of it. You had to actually play the damn game to get your toys.

But the funniest part isn't the revisionism, it's the unhinged self-contradiction. This forum loves to rail against "zoomers". Oh, those impatient little dopamine goblins who "want everything handed to them" and "don't understand what it was like back in our day." Yet the same people crying about the youth's lack of patience are also the ones throwing tantrums because their entire loadout isn't unlocked within 30 minutes of booting up.

And the kicker is if the game did unlock everything up front, people here would still complain. "Oh my god, everything's unlocked right away! These teeny-boppers have such an advantage! X gun is so OP!" You want the grind, but not the grind. You want nostalgia, but only the selective parts that don't require effort. You want to feel superior to a generation you barely understand while holding them to a standard you can't even meet yourselves.

Every time I see one of these threads, I don't even get mad anymore. I just marvel at the consistency of the inconsistency.

Well, this is different. Attachments that you get from leveling the guns 1) Takes forever. 2) Provides a HUGE power boost on the gun themselves. 3) XP Boosts mostly introduced in the upcoming battlepass will force everyone to pay for their $70 game with a subscription to that or they will get their ass handed to them because it won't be a level playing field.

This isn't anything different than the cards they were going to sell that increased tons of power in Battlefront 2 before they took out that system entirely. They are stalling gun progression, which has a severe impact on the game outside of skill level, and turns this into a mobile pay to win game. If they take out the XP bot farming to boot, it will be even worse.

Attachments shouldn't increase the power of a weapon by 50%. They knew what they were doing here and it's just a shell game of moving around the P2W monetization in a way that is less seen. If this were a free to play game, like Sludig Sludig said War Thunder it up - but it's a $70 game with what appears to be Mobile P2W mechanics buried as a guise of attachments come October 28th.

You can easily see this in the customization options when adding attachments increases power across various segments with no decline of said weapon in other segments like with other games. I have only seen a small handful of attachments in which that works that way (placing a negative elsewhere in the skill chain of the weapon) For most it is a power up across multiple skill sets.

BC2 took about a week of playing a few hours a day to unlock everything. 40 hours to unlock a single weapon with massive power swings is a bit much. BF4 did have a ludicrous amount of time to unlock attachments but once you got the first few the power level difference was minimal.

They are angling for the Blizzard style/MMO treadmill of keeping you playing FOREVER for gains rather than releasing with enough content to keep people happy long enough. 9 maps with most of them being without vehicles isn't very much "content" in the terms of a shooter, especially a BF shooter. So they time-gated everything behind challenges to give the illusion of content to make up for their own shortcomings as a team. Couple that with incredible power level differences and you're fucked if you show up late to the party (once again due to team incompetence).

You can very much tell the franchise is now run by the bean counters/suits that have driven out the talent for "yes men" that will do whatever they ask without enough forsight to see the shortcomings of their decisions. Basically the company has people running things that don't understand games or just don't care and are treating it as any other product and you guys were foolish enough to pay for it before seeing how it would shake out. Time will tell if they actually fix anything, because they damn sure didn't fix anything people complained about in the beta.

40 kills mostly with sniper in most rounds, an evening of xp server. Still only lv 8 of 13 needed just to get the critical fast bolt. dumb.

I agree maybe some rose lenses, I remember 4 taking a good amount of time on each gun. But this is certainly high on the front list with good optics and a few critical upgrades being too high up the unlock tree.

Doesn't help many unlocks also don't really get represented in the limited in game info cry well on what they truly do with some grips actively being harmful.

“Greatly reduces recoil and faster ADS at the cost of ADS accuracy when mobile. “. Need level 27 for this. Yet all stats go up even on mobility. Sure thing.

That's your retro reference, Bad Company 2? :emoji_laughing:

Bruh that could maybe pass as an old classic retro online game for zoomers, but that isn't what I was into. I was referencing stuff more like Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, Halo 2, COD 1 and 2, Unreal Tournament, you know, the real OG online FPS. None of that made you unlock anything, and they were the most fun I ever had playing FPS online.

As usual you are arguing in bad faith faggotry and using false equivalencies and straw man arguments. Typical faggotry post coming from you. You know the grind for a single weapon is too much. You get maybe a level at most 2 per game. Games that are about 30 minutes to an hour. There's what, 40 levels to a weapon? So I have to play 30-40 games just to mastery 1 weapon?

Faggot

I have other games to play. I don't play a single game. I play this maybe 20 hours a week. I guess I only get to get 20 levels a week on mastery.

Stop being such a boomer bro. Don't you even like to play the game?

Also I'm part of OG BF1942 where you didn't have to unlock shit and played that more then any of the other ones. Gosh gee willigers I wish that had made me grind some fucking weapons.

I really should learn to fly, it looks so fun, but man its brutal on KBM.
I remember buying a joystick just for BF1942. I was pretty decent and could pub stomp with it (especially with Mustang) but I couldn't hold a candle to our clans main pilot. Dude was insane and is honestly the reason we made it to the final 4 of the CAL BF1942 tournie.
